Northern State scored 19 points winning the NSU Alumni Open by a landslide placing six runners in the top seven places over a 5K course. Presentation College and NSU Alumni were also competing. Richard Keroack won the meet with a time of 15:55. Friday’s course was held at Parkview Nursery featuring rolling hills and trails.
Augustana Picked in NSIC Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Poll

Burnsville, Minn. - Defending NSIC Men’s Team Champions of Augustana College were the top choice in the 2010 NSIC Cross Country Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Vikings will boast NSIC Preseason Athlete of the Year in Tom Karbo.
Augustana received the max of nine first place votes (coaches cannot vote for own school) and tallied 81 points, eight points ahead of Minnesota State who had 73 points and a first place vote. St. Cloud State (61) was picked third with Minnesota Duluth (52) coming in fourth and MSU Moorhead fifth (45).
Augustana’s Tom Karbo was selected by the coaches as the 2010 NSIC Preseason Athlete of the Year. He enters 2010 as one of the top runners in the NSIC as he was last year’s runner-up at the NSIC Championship. Karbo was also the conference’s top finisher at the NCAA Regional as he checked in with a 17th-place finish. The junior from Norway was also the Vikings’ best finisher at nationals as he grabbed a 54th-place finish.
NSIC Cross Country teams will compete in various meets throughout the fall with the season culminating in Wayne, Neb. on Saturday, November 6th at the NSIC Cross Country Championships. The NCAA Regional will take place two weeks later on Saturday, November 20th again in Wayne, Neb. The NCAA DII National Meet will be hosted by Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky and run at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park on December 4th.
