Hafemeyer twice matched her career high with 24 kills in consecutive matches while hitting at a .462 clip to lead the Vikings to a 2-0 weekend. Totaling 48 kills on Friday and Saturday, Hafemeyer averaged 6.0 kills/set with just six total errors. Hafemeyer’s 24 kills, two aces, and three blocks led the Vikings to a five-set win over MSU Moorhead and her dominating performance against No. 20 Northern State was one of the best offensive nights in Augustana history. Hafemyer tallied 24 kills and four blocks (one solo, three assist) to record 26.5 points, the most in a three-set match in Augustana history -- Hafemeyer recorded a .524 attack percentage with just two errors. In the third set alone, Hafemeyer tallied 11 kills and two blocks, sealing the deal for the Vikings.  This marks the second time this season Hafemeyer has been NSIC Offensive Player of the Week (10/7/13).

Konetchy improved her nation leading assist average by collecting 92 assists (15.33 per set) in Concordia’s sweep of Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston.  She led the offense to a .377 attack percentage for the weekend as they continue to lead the country in many offensive categories.  Konetchy got involved on the defensive end as well on Saturday by picking up 10 digs to pick up her fourth double-double of the season.This marks the fifth time this season Konetchy has been NSIC Setter of the Week.

Junior libero Julie Rainey now sits 49  digs away from the UMD career record after hauling in 41 over the weekend, an league high average of 6.83 per game. She had zero reception errors in 32 opportunities as the Bulldogs earned a pair of sweeps. This marks the fourth time this season Rainey  has been NSIC Defensive Player of the Week.

With an opportunity to make up ground in the NSIC standings and improve their No. 8 region ranking, Augustana went 2-0 including a commanding sweep of No. 20 Northern State. In Friday’s matchup with MSU Moorhead, the Vikings won their third straight five-set match over the Dragons led by Holly Hafemeyer. No. 20 Northern State opened the first Central Region rankings one slot behind the Vikings and Augustana will likely hang onto their No. 8 ranking with their 3-0 sweep of the Wolves.
Holly Hafemeyer (MB, 6-3, Sr., Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) twice matched her career high with 24 kills in consecutive matches while hitting at a .462 clip to lead the Vikings to a 2-0 weekend. Marissa Johnson (S, 5-8 So., Omaha, Neb./Burke HS) directed the Augustana offense to a .286 attack percentage in the weekend with 106 assists in two matches (13.25 assists/set) in a pair of victories. Johnson tallied 60 assists -- the second time she’s eclipsed the 60-assist mark this season -- in the win over MSU Moorhead. Johnson led the Vikings to a .405 attack percentage with 46 assists as Augustana swept No. 20 Northern State. On the weekend, Johnson tallied 17 assists, narrowly missing double-doubles on both nights.
Kayla Wallerich (L, 5-8, Sr., Marshall, Minn./Marshall HS) picked up 39 digs (4.88 digs/set) as the Vikings held their opposition to a .200 attack percentage in two victories. Wallerich tallied 24 digs against MSU Moorhead to go with an ace as the Vikings beat the Dragons. In Saturday’s win over No. 20 Northern State, Wallerich’s array of acrobatic digs kept the Vikings in points as she finished with a match-high 15 in three sets (5.0 digs/set).

The Bemidji State University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches last week against No. 1 Concordia University, St. Paul and Minnesota State University, Mankato by identical 3-0 scores. The Beavers were led by Kayla DeJong (DS, So., Jefferson, Wis.) who totaled 34 digs in the two matches (17 digs per match). BSU will finish the 2013 campaign at home against Upper Iowa University and Winona State University this weekend. Bemidji State defeated Upper Iowa 3-2 Sept. 28 for its lone conference victory of the season. The Beavers are also looking for its first win at home this season.

Erienne Lauersdorf (OH, 5’9”, Sr., Watertown, Wis. / HS) paced the Golden Bear attack on the weekend with 29 kills (4.83 per set) and an extremely efficient .489 attack percentage in Concordia’s two wins.  She opened the weekend with 14 kills on only 23 attempts as she hit. 522 and also added two aces and six digs in Friday’s sweep of Bemidji State.  On Saturday, she picked up 15 killls on 24 attempts en route to a .458 attack percentage.  She was especially dominant in the second set by picking up seven kills, including a stretch of five straight early in the set.

Taylor Dordan (Lib., 5’6”, So., Blaine, Minn. / HS) continued her run as a consistent performer on the back row for the Golden Bears this weekend by putting up 33 digs (5.50 per set) in their two wins.  Dordan had at 18 and 15 in the two matches, respectively, and also added two aces in each match.  The Golden Bears held Bemidji to .120 hitting and Crookston to .119 on the weekend.
Concordia (26-1, 18-0 NSIC) clinched a share of their 11th consecutive conference title under Brady Starkey with a sweep of Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston at home this weekend. On Friday, the Golden Bears hit .400 as a team and held the Beavers to a .120 attack percentage as they took it in three sets (25-9, 15, 15).  On Saturday, CU held on in a tight first set as they cruised to another 3-0 sweep (25-22, 13, 10).  Concordia has now won 32 NSIC matches in a row and 24 in a row overall.

The University of Mary volleyball team dropped a pair of matches this weekend. U-Mary was swept by both Sioux Falls and #8 Southwest Minnesota State. SMSU is the fifth team ranked in the AVCA top-10 the Marauders have faced this season. Alexis Jacons (OH, RFr., 5-11, Bismarck, N.D. / Century) lead U-Mary’s offensive and defensive attacks with 16 kills and 12 digs. Janell Finkbeiner (S, Fr., 5-8, Ramsey, Minn. / Elk River) paced the Marauders offense with 42 assists. U-Mary will conclude its season at home as it hosts Wayne State on Friday and Augustana on Saturday.

The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team went 0-2 on the weekend on the road against Minnesota State University, Mankato and Concordia University, St. Paul. The Golden Eagles fell 3-2 to the Mavericks Friday after winning the first set and battled to win the fourth set but came up on the wrong end of things in the fifth set. The Golden Eagles were led by 18 kills from Brittany Looker (Jr., OH, Rochester, Minn.) on Friday. Saturday, UMC was competitive in the first set but ultimately fell 3-0 to six-time defending National Champion No. 1 Concordia.
The Golden Eagles have a crucial home weekend to wrap up the 2013 NSIC regular-season. UMC is currently in a tie for eighth place with Minnesota State. The Golden Eagles have to have a strong weekend against Winona State University and Upper Iowa University in order to advanced to the NSIC Tournament, which takes the top eight teams from the conference regular season.

Senior outside hitter Kate Lange collected a pair of double-doubles while hitting .430 on the weekend. She had seven blocks including five solo which brought her over 100 solo blocks for her career, while adding 42 kills, one service aces, and 30 digs on the weekend.

The Minnesota State Volleyball Team posted back-to-back this past weekend as it avenged an early season loss to Minnesota Crookston, earning a 3-2 win over the Golden Eagles before downing the Beavers in straight-sets on Saturday Afternoon. Sophomore outside hitting Chandra Honebrink (Waconia, Minn.) paced the Mavericks tallying 35 kills and hitting .300 on the weekend. With the weekend sweep the Mavericks improve to 13-13 overall with a mark of 8-10 in conference action.

Brianna Atkins (OH, 5-10, Fr., Rochester, Minn. / John Marshall HS) had a strong week from her right-side hitter position for the Dragons. She had 28 kills in two matches, averaging 2.80 kills per set. She had a career-high 15 kills in a five-set loss at Augustana on Friday and then added a team-high 13 kills in a five-set win at No. 18 Wayne State on Saturday. Atkins had just seven errors in 71 attack attempts and hit .296 for the week.
Amber Krenske (DS, 5-7, So., Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) had 55 digs in a pair of road matches for the Dragons as they went 1-1. The highlight of the weekend was a five-set, come-from-behind win at No. 18 Wayne State. Krenske had 25 digs in a five-set loss at Augustana on Friday night and then added 30 digs in the Dragons’ five-set win over No. 18-ranked Augustana on Saturday. Krenske averaged 5.50 digs per set for the week and also added nine set assists. Despite missing seven matches because of injury, Krenske leads MSUM with 356 digs and an average of 5.01 digs per set.
Sam Sullivan (S/RS, 5-11, Jr., Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury HS) had 50 set assists in two matches as part of MSUM’s two-setter attack as the Dragons went 1-1 on the road, including a win over No. 18-ranked Wayne State on Saturday. Sullivan had 30 set assists in a five-set loss at Augustana on Friday and followed with 20 in the comeback win at Wayne State. Sullivan also added 20 digs.

The Beavers dropped two road matches on the weekend, bringing their Northern Sun record to 7-11. Minot State fell Friday night to Southwest Minnesota State University and then lost to University of Sioux Falls in four sets Saturday afternoon. On the weekend Jen Dixon (Jr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) led the MISU attack with 26 kills. She also kept her up recent knack of double-doubles as she recorded 11 digs each night in losses. Saturday against USF after winning the first set, the Beavers looked primed to get a much needed win; however, it was USF’s Emily Johnson’s night. Johnson recorded a match-high 26 kills and hit a scorching .417 from the floor. Kelsey Wingo (Sr., MH, Twain Harte, Calif.) and Lauren Dunkle (Fr., OH, Aurora, Colo.) both chipped in with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Setter Emily Byrne, who recently eclipsed the 3,000 assist mark in her career at MISU, added 47 more assists in the loss. Minot State, who has now dropped three straight matches, will look to get back on track and make their way into their first ever Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament. The Beavers must win both matches next weekend against two teams that receive votes in the national poll, Augustana and Wayne State.

Drew Smith (So., Ames, Iowa, Ames HS) had an outstanding weekend for the Wolves as Northern State earned a split in its two matches. Smith averaged an incredible 12.7 assists per set in the two matches and totaled 102 for the weekend. Smith also recorded her seventh double-double of the year against Wayne State as she set a career-high with 18 digs and also had a new season-best 59 assists in the win. Smith totaled 27 digs for the weekend.

Sioux Falls (18-10, 9-9) went 2-0 at home last weekend to jump into seventh place in the NSIC standings. Junior outside hitter Emily Johnson paced the Cougars with 36 kills, including a career-best 26 in Saturday’s Senior Day victory against Minot State. On Friday night, the quartet of Samantha Lovell, Michelle Ritland, Jordan Calef and Alexa Reed put up a wall at the net that was close to impenetrable and the Cougars spent most of the night getting their hands or fingertips on all kinds of balls at the net, in a convincing 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 win over the University of Mary. USF out-blocked the Marauders 12.0-2.0, with Lovell leading the way with five rejections. Calef had four stuffs, two solo, Ritland made four block assists and Reed added three. The Cougars’ back row was just as good, as Abby Folk recorded 11 digs and Andrea Odbert rung up nine digs. Johnson led the Cougars with 10 terminations while Kate Hart finished with eight kills.

Abbey Thissen (RS, 6-0, So., Clara City, Minn. / MACCRAY) had an exceptional weekend for Southwest Minnesota State as she led the Mustangs to sweeps over Minot State and the University of Mary this weekend. Thissen, SMSU’s team-leader in total kills, finished the 6-set weekend with a 5.17 kill per set average and a total of 31 kills. Thissen’s impressive performance didn’t stop there as her 31 kills came on 48 attacks with only seven errors for a .500 hitting percentage. On Saturday versus U-Mary, Thissen set a new career-high with a .667 hitting percentage as she tallied 16 kills on 21 attacks. The mark was tied for sixth best in SMSU single-match history and best since Mary Groth set the school record in 2009 with her .714 hitting percentage. Her .667 percentage helped SMSU set a new single-match best this season and sixth best in school history for hitting percentage in a match - .427. Thissen has been red-hot in SMSU’s last six matches -- hitting .446, averaging 4.63 kills per set and tallying 88 kills. Thissen is now averaging a NSIC fifth-best 3.87 kills per set on the season.
Emilee Gutzmer (S, 5-8, So., Jordan, Minn. / Jordan) conducted the Southwest Minnesota State offensively to the tune of a .354 hitting percentage this weekend in wins over Minot State and the University of Mary. SMSU finished with just 22 errors in six sets and averaged 15.17 kills per. Gutzmer herself, recorded a total of 77 assists for an average of 12.83 per set. On Saturday versus U-Mary, Gutzmer led SMSU to a new single-match best this season and the sixth best hitting percentage in a single-match in school history - .427.
Rachel Westby (L, 5-7, Sr., Marshall, Minn. / Marshall) dug out 38 attacks in Southwest Minnesota State’s sweeps of Minot State and the University of Mary. The St. Cloud State University volleyball team traveled to Upper Iowa University to take on the Peacocks on Friday evening.The Huskies got off to a slow start, falling to Upper Iowa 20-25 and 18-25 in sets one and two. St. Cloud State battled back, winning set three 25-23 before falling in the fourth and final set 20-25. Dani Domeier (Norwood Young America) led the Huskies with 13 kills and 17 digs, notching her eighth double-double of the season.Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley) recorded six kills in just six total attempts. She collected 33 assists and five digs. On Saturday, the Huskies traveled to take on the Warrior of Winona State. The Huskies started out strong, defeating the Warriors 25-22 and 25-17 in sets one and two. Winona State downed St. Cloud 25-13 in set three before the Huskies ended the match with a 25-20 fourth-set victory.St. Cloud State puts an end to their eight-match losing streak and improved to 13-13 overall and 7-11 in the NSIC. Dani Domeier (Norwood Young America) led the Huskies for the second night in a row with 11 kills and 13 digs (her ninth double-double of the season).Ellie Dietzen (Black Creek, Wis.) finished with 11 kills and a team-high eight solo blocks.Allison Butler (Burnsville) put up some solid numbers with a double-double of her own. Butler finished with a 10 kill, 19 dig performance, while hitting a .417 attack percentage.Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley) dished out 33 assists and added ten digs.The Huskies will return to action next weekend for their final conference double-header of the season. The Huskies will take on Concordia, St. Paul on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall. Saturday’s game against Minnesota State University is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be designated for honoring St. Cloud State’s lone senior, Ellie Dietzen.

Hailey Brown (S, 5-11, Jr., Elroy, Wis.) led the Peacock offense last week with 37 assists (5.29/set) and 25 kills (3.57/set) while hitting .412 for the Peacocks.  Brown added 4 aces, 15 digs and 4 blocks in Upper Iowa’s split with St. Cloud State (3-1) and #3 Minnesota Duluth (0-3).
Upper Iowa defeated St. Cloud State Friday night in Fayette in four sets (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20) and played solid against the #3 Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth, but dropped a straight set decision (25-23, 25-15, 25-17) on Saturday.  Melanie Behnke hit a team-high 28 kills and added 20 digs, while Jenna Hermsen paced the offense with Brown adding 40 assists.  Amanda Weiss picked up 20 digs on the back line and Alisha VanderWoude denied 6 balls at the net.  The Peacocks will head out on the road for their final two matches of the 2013 season. UIU will open the weekend on Friday versus the Beavers of Bemdiji State University and then move over to take on the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota Crookston on Saturday.

Senior middle hitter Lexi Malm had a career-best weekend for the Wildcats as Wayne State suffered heartbreaking home losses, each in five sets, to #18 Northern State and MSU Moorhead.  The 6-1 Central City graduate had a career-high 18 kills and hit .484 Friday night in a 3-2 loss to Northern State and added 11 kills Saturday in another 3-2 loss to MSU Moorhead Saturday.  For the weekend, Malm averaged 2.90 kills and 0.60 blocks while hitting .367 for the weekend.
Senior outside hitter Cori Hobbs had two more double-doubles to raise her season total to 20.  Hobbs had 16 kills and 21 digs against Northern State and had 18 kills and 18 digs Saturday against MSU Moorhead.  For the weekend, she averaged 3.40 kills and 3.90 digs per set.
Sophomore setter Leisa McClintock had a career-high 65 set assists in Friday’s match against Northern State and averaged 11.10 assists per set for the weekend and sophomore libero Courtney VanGroningen had a season-high 30 digs Saturday vs. MSU Moorhead.

Bekah Saugen, Sr., OH, Chaska, Minn. (Chaska) led the Warrior offense with 23 kills, a 3.29 kill per set average, in losses last weekend to Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State. Saugen posted a double-double against SCSU, recording 15 kills and 11 digs. She totaled 21 digs on the weekend, a 3.00 dig per set average. The senior also had three aces and a block during her final home weekend.
Katie Froehle, Sr., OH, Eden Prairie, Minn. (Eden Prairie) paced the Winona State defense with 29 digs in matches against Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State. Froehle averaged 4.14 digs per set for the Warriors. The senior posted a double-double against SCSU, netting ten kills and 17 digs in the match. She added 19 kills on the weekend to WSU’s effort while also passing out an assist.
