NSIC Player of the Year
#4 Jen Dixon (LF, 5-9, Jr., L/R, Brandon, MB / Vincent Massey HS)
Minot State University
Jen Dixon finished the 2013 regular season among the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference leaders in every offensive category in the Beavers first season in the league. Dixon paced the NSIC in batting average with an even .500 mark, collecting 65 hits. She also led the conference in slugging percentage (.977), on base percentage (.571), doubles (17) and triples (6). The third-year starter from Brandon, Manitoba was also tied for third in RBIs with 50 and sixth in home runs, smacking a career-best 11. Dixon figured prominently in the national scene as well, finishing in the top 10 in slugging percentage (6th), average (8th), on base percentage (9th) and triples (9th).
NSIC Pitcher of the Year
#12 Mandy Greenberg (RHP, 5-8, Sr., R/R, Winnipeg, MB / Garden City HS)
Minot State University
Mandy Greenberg finished a stellar 2013 regular season with a 22-3 overall record and a 1.07 earned run average over 137 innings pitched in the Beavers’ first season in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Greenberg led the NSIC in both ERA and in strikeouts per game, with an 11.29 Ks/game average. She also finished fifth in hits allowed with 75 and was third overall in wins with 22. Her numbers were equally solid nationally as she ended the regular season in the top 10 in NCAA Division II in Ks per game (fifth – 11.29), hits allowed per game (eighth – 2.92) and ERA (ninth – 1.07). In 32 appearances, Greenberg had four shutouts and 12 complete games, held opponents to a .157 batting average and also finished with two saves. She reached double figures in strikeouts nine times, striking out a season-high 13 batters in seven innings against Minnesota State-Moorhead April 18. During her four-year career at Minot State, she has 70 wins against 26 losses and has 830 strikeouts.

NSIC Freshman of the Year
#18 Jacqueline Flood (P/U, 5-8, Fr., R/R, Mt. Vernon, Ill. / Mt. Vernon Township HS)
Upper Iowa University
Jacqueline Flood has put together a tremendous season as a designated player and pitcher for the Peacocks in 2013. The UIU rookie started all 42 games as the designated player or pitcher for Upper Iowa making 21 appearances in the pitching circle. At the plate, Flood hit .341 with 46 hits including 7 doubles, a triple and four homeruns. She registered a .496 slugging percentage while driving in 31 runs and crossing the plate 25 times. On the rubber, Flood posted a 10-4 record this season with a 3.62 earned run average. In NSIC games only, she hit .403 and slugged .569 with 16 rbi’s and 17 runs scored. In the circle during NSIC contests, the right hander went 6-3 with a 3.08 ERA striking out 38 and holding opponents to a .256 batting average. The Peacock freshman had 13 multi-hit games including 9 with two hits and 4 with three hits. Flood also registered 8 multi-rbi games driving in two 6 times and plating three 2 times.
NSIC Newcomer of the Year
#24 Cherlyn Trujillo (LHP, 5-9, Jr., L/L, San Jose, Calif. / Mission College)
University of Mary
In her first year at the University of Mary Cherlyn Trujillo already finds herself among the leaders in the Northern Sun in several statistical categories. With 16 strikeouts against SMSU, Trujillo holds the highest single game total for an NSIC pitcher. With a 1.82 ERA, 10 wins and a 0.235 opponents batting average, the lefty ranks in the top 10 in all three categories. Trujillo is tops in the league in both innings pitched with 115.1 and strikeouts 137. U-Mary’s ace is second in the conference with 8.32 strikeouts/game and third with 1.15 walks/game.
NSIC Coach of the Year
Jen Banford
8th Season at University of Minnesota Duluth
Jen Banford was voted by her peers as the 2013 NSIC Softball Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to a 39-11 overall and 19-5 NSIC record, good enough for a share of the NSIC Regular Season Championship. The championship was the first for the bulldogs in a decade and the 39 overall wins is the most by a team in the NSIC this season. Banford, who was a multi-sport athlete (softball, hockey, basketball, and volleyball) at Seaway District High School in Iroquois, Ontario, graduated from Valley City State in 2003 with a B.S. degree, double majoring in health and physical education and completed her Master of Science degree in Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science (with an emphasis in sport pedagogy) at North Dakota State University in 2005.
