Turner was named to the Colorado Premier Challenge All-Tournament Team as she lead the Bulldogs with 50 kills on the weekend with just seven attack errors on 84 swings, good for a .512 hitting percentage. Turner hit .750 (12-0-19) in the Bulldogs win over Metro State. She averaged 3.85 kills per-set on the weekend, including 19 against No. 2 Tampa. She also added 11 blocks, one solo, to lead UMD at the net.

Brianne Stamer led the NSIC in digs as she had 94 in 13 sets for a 7.23 dig per set average at the NSU Dacotah Bank Volleyball Classic. She racked a up NSIC-high 31 digs in the 3-1 win over Southwest Baptist, 25 against Minnesota Crookston and 24 in a three set sweep of Minot State.

Hinisch was named to the Colorado Premier Challenge All-Tournament Team after averaging an NSIC high 14.23 assist per set over four matches. Hinsch collected 185 set assists in four matches, scored 10 kills on 18 swings, had three service aces, and six blocks in 13 sets. She also hauled in 21 digs on the weekend. Hinsch directed an offense that hit .327 on the week against some of the top competition in the nation, including No. 4 BYU-Hawaii and No.2 Tampa.

The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball team went 2-2 at the NSU Dacotah Bank Volleyball classic. The Golden Eagles are now 6-2 on the season and continue to be off to one of their best starts in program history. UMC is led by senior outside hitter Brittany Looker, an All-NSIC First Team selection in 2013, who is averaging 4.87 kills per set and 2.57 digs per set and is hitting .252 on the season. In addition to Looker, Stephanie Pearson comes in averaging 2.00 kills per set and 3.03 digs per set. Setter Sierra Trost leads the way with 9.90 assists per set. Defensively, libero Mary Mikutowski leads the way with 3.57 digs per set while Morgan VanGerpen is averaging 1.23 blocks per set.
The Golden Eagles will open NSIC play Tuesday on the road at Bemidji State University before returning to Lysaker Gymnasium for their home openining weekend against No. 19 Wayne State College and Augustana College.

3rd Season
2013 Record: 12-18, 7-13 NSIC (13th)
- Minot State competed in the Northern State Invitational this weekend after competing in the Montana State-Billings Invite last weekend. The Beavers dropped both matches on Friday to Minnesota-Crookston (3-1) and St. Cloud State (3-0). Minot State’s struggles continued on Saturday when they faced nationally ranked Northern State and later Southwest Baptist. Both matches were lost in straight sets.
- Freshman Rachel Fagerburg (OH, Tempe, Ariz.) did well to replace injured Mallory Sall (Jr., OH, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia), recording 46 kills over the weekend. Fagerburg received her first significant time out on the court for the Beavers this weekend.
- Jen Dixon (Sr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) continues to impress in her final season as a Beaver. The senior tallied 52 kills at the Northern State Invite after recording 49 the previous weekend. Dixon did well defensively for the Beavers as well, recording 51 digs.
- After beginning the season with a 2-0 record, the first time the program has done so in the last six years, Minot State has dropped 6 matches in a row and have only won 5 sets in those 6 matches.
- The Beavers will once again find themselves on the road this week when they first travel to Bismarck, ND to play rival University of Mary. The Beavers dropped a match earlier in the season to the Marauders 3-2 at the MSU-Billings Invite. Minot State then hits the road for a couple of weekend games against Winona State (9/19) and Upper Iowa (9/20).

Cari McGarvie, 5-10, Jr., MH, Lincoln, Neb., Lincoln North Star HS
McGarvie had an absolutely dynamite weekend for the Wolves as Northern swept the NSU Dacotah Bank Volleyball Classic. McGarvie was named the MVP of the classic as she recorded a total of 37 kills in the four matches while also leading the team with an outstanding .540 hitting percentage. McGarvie also led the team with 20 total blocks over the weekend and also recorded six service aces. McGarvie’s best match of the weekend came against Southwest Baptist as she recorded 11 kills and had a career-best .647 attack percentage. Against St. Cloud State, McGarive had a career-high eight blocking assists in the NSU sweep. The Wolves swept all four matches this weekend.
Drew Smith, 5-9, Jr., S, Ames, Iowa, Ames HS
Smith had a great weekend from her setter position for the Wolves as she averaged 14.17 assists per set in Northern’s four wins over the weekend. In addition, Smith recorded a pair of double-doubles Saturday as she had 37 assists and 11 digs against Minot State and followed that performance up with a season-best 49 assists and 10 digs against Minnesota, Crookston.
Smith was the catalyst of a Wolves attack that hit .363 as a team at the tournament and she also recorded 11 total blocks and three aces in the four matches.

- Tallied career-high 21 kills against Fort Hays state
- Finished weekend with .283 attack percentage
- Posted 18 service aces, including nine against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
Kayla Crane (S, 5-8, Fr., Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS)
- Dished out 161 assists (8.05/set) in five matches
- Assisted on season-high 40 kills against Fort Hays State on Friday, Sept. 12
- Tallied five kills and recorded two in each of Friday’s matches.
Sioux Falls volleyball had a busy weekend playing five matches in three days and finishing with a 2-3 record. The Cougars took down Mount Marty in straight sets on the road Thursday night before co-hosting the second annual NSIC Challenge in Sioux Falls. Friday featured two drama-filled matches as each contest went five sets, but the Cougars came up short in both. Rebounding the following day, USF swept Northwest Missouri State before falling to Missouri Western State in the finale.

- Recorded a career high 24 kills in a five-set match against Lewis while proving her versatility with 22 digs.
- 24 kills against Lewis is tied for 12th most in WSU single match history.

- Recorded 32 digs in a pair of matches with Quincy and Lewis.
- Also strong on the offensive end, compiling 18 kills against Lewis and eight against Quincy.
#8 McKenna Larsen (S, 5-7, Fr., Oconto Falls, Wis.)
- Continued her impressive start to her WSU career, establishing herself as the primary setter for the Warriors.
- Passed out 90 assists in a pair of matches with Quincy and Lewis, including 57 against Lewis.
- Also tallied 15 kills in the two matches while hitting .429 with seven in the straight set win over Quincy.
- Also was strong on the defensive end, accounting for 22 digs in the two matches.
Winona State (5-1) opens its home and conference season with a 7 p.m. matchup with Upper Iowa Tuesday before hosting Minot State and Mary this weekend.
