NSIC Offensive Player of the Week
#21 Chris Smith (RB, 5-8, 195, Sr., Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer HS)
Upper Iowa University
Smith ran for ran for 208 yards and three touchdowns on 33 carries and added four catches for 44 yards in a 37-31 win at St. Cloud State. His touchdowns included runs of three, 14 and 19 yards including the game-winning touchdown from 19 yards out with five seconds to play. Smith surpassed 200 yards in a game for the second time this season and eighth time in his career. For the season he has 95 carries for 690 yards (5th NCAA DII), 13 touchdowns (1st NCAA DII) and 7.3 yard average per carry. The Peacocks are 4-0 for the first time since 1964. This marks the second week in a row Smith has been named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week.

#19 Solomon St. Pierre (CB, 5-11, 171, Jr., Wagner, S.D. / Wagner HS)
University of Sioux Falls
Solomon recorded three interceptions, including a 76-yard pick-six in the third quarter as the Cougars defeated MSU Moorhead 73-21. Solomon, who leads the NSIC with five interceptions, also recorded a tackle and had three pass breakups in the win.

Concordia University, St. Paul
Obarski tied a single game school record with three field goals, all coming from 45 yards or longer in the Golden Bears 44-3 win over Minnesota Crookston. Obarski, who connected on field goals of 45, 48 and 47, produced 14 points, the second most in school history & one shy of the school record. He also had three kickoff touchbacks and pinned two of his three punts inside the 20 yard line.

The University of Minnesota Crookston football team fell 44-3 to Concordia University, St. Paul Saturday in St. Paul, Minn. The Golden Eagles struggled to any type of offense going on the day as they had only 158 yards of offense and Ben Bucholz threw two interceptions on the day. Talo Pascal led the offense with 59 yards on the ground. Defensively, Greg Lofquist led the way with 13 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

The Golden Eagles will return to Crookston, Minn. to take on St. Cloud State Saturday. UMC will look to improve on their 0-4 start to the season as they host the Huskies.

THIS WEEK - vs MSUM
- With a perfect 4-0 record in tow and riding a 12-game regular season winning streak, UMD returns to James S. Malosky Stadium this Saturday for its first NSIC North Division assignment of 2014 against MSU-Moorhead.
- UMD has reeled off 12 straight victories over the Dragons, 69-45 shootout triumph one year ago in Moorhead. The two clubs combined to for 1,309 yards of total offense, 16 touchdowns and 56 first downs that afternoon.
- Since the NSIC instituted divisional play in 2008, the Bulldogs are a sizzling 36-2 against NSIC North Division opponents (19-0 at home) with both of those two losses being inflicted by St. Cloud State (51-49 in 2012 and 35-7 in 2011). UMD is the reigning six-time defending NSIC North Division champion.
- In its 28-21 downing of Winona State this past Saturday, UMD once again did the large majority of its offensive damage on the ground, rollling up 273 yards on a season-high 57 rushes, which helped them double up the Warriors in ball control time time (40:20 to 19:40).
- Junior running back Logan Lauters registered his third 100-yard night of 2014 (and eighth of his career) with 128 yards on 19 carries while senior running back Austin Sikorski added 120 yards on 21 touches. With his 13th lifetime 100-yard game, Sikorski moved up two spots -- past his former teammate, quarterback Chase Vogler (2009-12), and All-American running back Ted McKnight (1973-76) -- into fourth place on UMD’s all-time rushing charts. The 2014 NSIC North Division Preseason Offensive Player of the Year now has 2,969 yards as a Bulldog.
- The senior wide out tandem of Zach Zweifel (130 catches) and co-captain Aaron Roth (114) rank 6th and 7th, respectively, for career receptions among Bulldogs.
- Logan Lauters is averaging 8.0 yards per carry thus far in 2014 and UMD has a team is running at a 6.2 yard per rush clip
- This past Saturday night marked the first time this season the Bulldogs trailed at halftime and after three quarters.
- UMD is a +3 in takeways this fall and threw its first interception of 2014 Saturday at Winona State.

- Borel caught five passes for a career-high 176 yards and two touchdowns in the Beavers 20-17 loss at home to Wayne State.
- Averaged 35.2 yards per catch and doubled his receiving totals over the first three games.
- Caught TD passes of 76- and 20-yards respectively, with the 76-yard TD the longest play from scrimmage for the Beavers in 2014.
- Minot State outscored Wayne State College 14-3 in the second half but fell just short, denying head coach Tyler Hughes his first win with the Beavers and spoiling Homecoming 2014 festivities at MSU.

He was joined in double figures in tackles by #5 Levi Freidt (LB, 6-4, 209, Sr., Minot, N.D. / Bishop Ryan) who finished with 12 tackles. Freidt currently ranks fourth in the conference in tackles per game averaging 11.5 an outing.
- #17 Aaron La Deaux (K/P, 6-3, 182, So., Port Orchard, Wash. / South Kitsap) continued to punt the ball well, finishing with seven punts for 282 yards and a 40.3 average. He had a long of 50 yards and dropped three inside the WSC 20. He currently second in the conference in punting average.

- Minot State looks to avenge a loss in 2013 in the final minutes to NSU
- Minot State and NSU are tied 8-8-1 all time in the series that dates back to 1953.

- The Cougars own a 6-0 series record against Concordia-St. Paul, winning 47-7 on Oct. 19, 2013 in St. Paul.
- Last week, USF, which moved into the AFCA poll for the first time this year at #24, rolled to their fourth straight victory this season with a 73-21 win over Minnesota State-Moorhead. In the win, the Cougars rolled up a season-best 663 yards and picked off five passes by MSUM’s Jack Hodge, who didn’t have an interception all year.
- In 2014, USF, which ranks third in total defense in the NSIC, has a league-high 10 interceptions, two fumble recoveries for 12 total opponent turnovers and a plus margin of +8. A year ago, USF had just nine total turnovers forced against opponents.
- Against MSUM, the Cougars scored 35 points in the first quarter for the first time since a 66-13 win over Doane College on Sept. 18, 2010.
- The 73 points scored was the most by USF as a member of NCAA Division II.

St. Cloud State’s efforts to win its eighth straight game at home fell short as Upper Iowa’s Chris Smith scored on a 19-yard run with five seconds remaining to break a tie and go on to win 37-31.
- Ledell White (Jr., RB, Milwaukee, Wis.) rushed for a career high 129 yards on 15 carries and scored three touchdowns including a spectacular 67-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. He also caught two passes for 37 yards. It marked the second 100-yard rushing game of his career.
- Nate Meyer (So., QB, Cold Spring, Minn.) threw his first touchdown pass of the season, a 34-yard completion to Taylor Berger (Sr., WR, Ramsey, Minn.) early in the first quarter. He finished the game 19 of 35 passing for 249 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 46 yards.
- Matt Hentges (So., WR, Eagan, Minn.) caught a personal season and career high six passes for 93 yards including a long of 28 yards.
- Kasai Farris (RFY, WR, Montgomery, Ala.) caught the first pass of his collegiate career in the first quarter, a 15 yard reception for a first down and finished the game with four catches for 36 yards.

The No. 20 Winona State football team had the fourth-ranked Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs right where it wanted them for most of the game, but UMD mounted a comeback to come away with a 28-21 victory in front of 4,575 fans at Warrior Stadium Saturday night. QB Jack Nelson, despite completing just nine passes, threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns – a remarkable 30.4 yard-per-completion average. Josh Mikes, meanwhile, hauled in four passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Collin Corcoran and Ryan Cain each recorded 11 tackles.

Winona State (3-1) hits the road to begin NSIC South play Saturday with a 1 p.m. matchup at Wayne State.
