Mankato, Minn. – Concordia-St. Paul senior Colin Goligoski (St. Paul, Minn. / Central HS) used a strong final day of the NSIC Heptathlon to surpass two-time defending champion Nathan Hancock of Minnesota State. Gologoski finished with 5151 points, 20 ahead of Hancock, to win CU’s first NSIC Heptathlon title.
The score is an NCAA provisional mark and ranks in the top ten scores of Division II this season.
After trailing by 76 after day one, Goligoski uses a monster performance in the pole vault as he cleared 15’3” to take the lead over Hancock. His vault was two feet higher than the second place finisher. Goligoski then held on with for the win with a third place finish in the 1000m run. On day one Goligoski won the shot put (39’1.75”) and took second in the long jump (21’11”).
The NSIC/US Bank Indoor Track & Field Championships will continue on Thurs.-Fri., February 26-27 in Mankato, Minn.
