Mankato, Minn. - Minnesota State won its fourth straight NSIC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship and sixth in the last seven years as they totaled 163 team points to finished 43 points ahead of second place Sioux Falls.  There were seven men’s records set over the last two days at Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn., including four on Friday afternoon.

The Mavericks Emmanual Matadi set two of those record as he earned 2015 NSIC Championship High Point Performer.  Matadi won the 60m, the 200m and was part of the winning 4X400 relay team as he earned 22.5 point for his team.  Matadi set the 60m dash record on Thursday with a time of 6.67 in the prelims. He added another record to his resume as he broke MSUM’s Derek Bredy’s 2014 record by one hundredth of a second as he won the 200m dash in a time of 21.42.

Southwest Minnesota State’s Alejandro Sanchez earned the first NSIC record for the Mustangs as he ran a 1:52.93 in the 800m to break Augustana’s Aduo Omot’s 2014 record of 1:53.49.

MSU Moorhead’s Keith Turner turned in a 1:20.11 in the 600m to break Omot’s record of 1:20.61 set back in 2012.

Sioux Falls’ Scott Greenman cleared 17’0.25” in the pole vault to eclipse MSU Moorhead’s Derik Brugger’s 2009 record of 17’.  The Cougars took the top five spots in the pole vault to score 33 points in that event alone.

The top three finishers in each event and the top two relay teams are named to the NSIC Indoor Track & Field All-Conference team. NSIC Indoor Track & Field Athletes and Coach of the Year will be announced next week at NorthernSun.org.

The NCAA National Championships will take place on March 13-14 at CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
