Waletich had a power surge for the Mavericks this past week in two wins against Augustana and a weekend sweep at Bemidji State. Waletich batted .500 and boasted a slugging percentage of 1.286 with seven home runs, 17 RBI and 12 runs scored. His 17 RBI, seven home runs and 36 total bases were NSIC highs last week while his 14 hits was tied for the most in the league. On Saturday, he hit two home runs including a three-run bomb in the seventh inning of game one to give MSU a 10-9 victory over BSU. He hit another two home runs in game two in the Mavericks 41-20 victory over the Beavers. In that game the two teams set an NCAA record with 56 combined hits, breaking the record of 52 set back in 1993. On Sunday in the final game of the series with BSU, he belted three home runs including two in the sixth inning in the Purple and Gold’s 23-1 win. In the four-game series against the Beavers, the Mavericks recorded 88 runs, 92 hits, 15 doubles, two triples and 18 home runs.

Gregory opened his week by winning his sixth game of the season with 4.0 innings of relief work in the Huskies’ 7-3 victory at Concordia-St. Paul on April 8. In the contest, he charted seven strikeouts and allowed just three hits and gave up no runs to earn the victory. He returned to action on April 11 and scored his fourth save of the season with 1.2 innings of closer work in the Huskies’ 6-4 win over SMSU. He posted four strikeouts to finish the game and allowed just one hit. He returned in a starter role on April 12 and gained a 12-1 victory over SMSU. He allowed just one run in the contest, while striking out four and giving up just five hits in 6.0 innings of work. At the plate, Gregory served as a designated hitter and carded three hits, three runs, two doubles, two RBI and two walks during the week. On the mound, Gregory’s weekly totals included 11.2 innings of work, two victories (2-0), one save, 16 strikeouts, nine hits allowed, one run allowed and one earned run allowed. His week’s ERA was 0.77. This marks the second time this season Gregory has been named NSIC Pitcher of the Week (3/2/15).
