Aberdeen, S.D. - Minnesota State’s Nathan Hancock cruised to his second straight NSIC Decathlon title as he amassed 6951 points as he earned ten points for the Mavericks in the NSIC/US Bank Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Hancock came within 17 points of MSU’s Tandy Juell’s 2012 NSIC Decathlon record of 6968 points.
After sitting with a 160 point lead following day one, Hancock secured the crown Monday afternoon on the campus of Northern State University.
Hancock led the field in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 15.22. He followed that with a 111'11" toss in the discus. He followed that with 13'1.5" in the pole vault and 145'9" in the javelin. He ended his championship run in the 1500-meters with a final time of 4:40.63, setting a new personal-best.
For Hancock, this marks his second-straight decathlon conference title and fourth multi championship including the indoor heptathlon events.
The NSIC/US Bank Outdoor Track & Field Championships will continue on May 8-9 at the USF Sports Complex in Sioux Falls, S.D.
