Sioux Falls, S.D. – Two records fell on the women's side on day one of the NSIC/US Bank Outdoor Track & Field Championship held at Lillibridge Track & Field Complex, hosted by the University of Sioux Falls.  Winona State leads in the team standings with 42 points followed closely by Wayne State with 38. Both teams used strong performances in the field events on day one to take an early lead. The three-time defending champions of the University of Mary are third with 34 points.

Winona State’s Alissa Rauch set a new NSIC record in the discus with a throw of 176-11 (53.92m) while teammate Kaitlyn Long took top honors in the hammer throw with toss of 189-11 (57.89). Rauch broke the record of 176-3 set by the Warriors’ Mary’s Theisen back in 2011.

Augustana’s Leah Seivert broke the NSIC record in the 10000m run as she finish in 34:55.57 to shatter the 35:27.70 record ran by Minnesota Duluth’s Morgan Place set in 2010.

The top three finishers in each event and the top two relay teams are named to the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference team. NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes and Coach of the Year will be announced next week at NorthernSun.org.

The NSIC/US Bank Outdoor Track & Field Championship resumes Saturday morning at 11 a.m. with field events followed by track finals beginning at 1 p.m.
