SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana won its eighth straight NSIC Men's Cross Country Championship as the Vikings scored 28 teams points after placing five runners in the top nine. Leading the way for the Vikings was Glen Ellingson, who ran the 8,000-meter race in a time of 24:10.96 to win his second straight NSIC Individual Championship. The championship was ran at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Finishing behind Ellingson was MSU Moorhead’s Cody Christ (24:22.52) as he helped the Dragons to a second place team finish. Winona State’s Seth Reel (24:26.58) was third as he helped the Warriors to a sixth place finish.
Nathan Hauge (24:30.75) placed fourth for the Vikings while teammate Keegan Carda (24:35.03) was sixth. Jesus Urtusuastegui (24:50.32) was eighth while John Klecker (24:50.84) was ninth to round out the Viking point scorers. Urtusuastegui was named NSIC Newcomer of the Year as he was the top finisher competing in their first year of NSIC competition. The Vikings' Head Coach Tracy Hellman was voted by his peers as the NSIC Coach of Year for the seventh straight season.
Next action for NSIC Cross Country will be at the
NCAA Regional on Saturday, November 5 at Yankton Trails in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, hosted by Augustana University. The men’s race is set to begin at 10 a.m. with the women’s race to follow at 11:15 a.m.
