BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The 2016 NSIC Volleyball Tournament pairings have been determined following the conclusion of the NSIC regular season schedule.  The top eight teams from the NSIC Volleyball Standings advance to the single-elimination tournament.  The top four seeds host first round matches on Wednesday, November 16 with the winners advancing to the semifinal and championship rounds on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20 in a bracketed format. There will be no reseeding following the first round games. The highest remaining seed following the quarterfinals will host the semifinal and championship matches.

Concordia-St. Paul won a share of its 13th NSIC regular season title in the last 14 years after finishing 18-2 in NSIC play. Southwest Minnesota State also finished 18-2 as it won its fourth NSIC Championship.  The Golden Bears will be the number one seed entering the tournament via the strength of schedule tie-breaker and will host a first round match against Minnesota State. SMSU will be the two seed and will host Sioux Falls in the opening round. Minnesota Duluth and Augustana tied in the standing at 17-3, with UMD earning the third seed via strength of schedule. The Bulldogs will host sixth seeded Wayne State while fourth seeded Augustana will host fifth seeded Winona State.  All quarterfinal matches will take place on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the higher seed. 

The winner of the 2016 NSIC Volleyball Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament. The full championship selections will be announced on Monday, Nov. 21 via a webcast selection show on www.NCAA.com at 6:30 p.m. The regional tournament will be played December 1-3 at a regional campus. The 2016 NCAA Elite 8 will take place Dec. 8-10 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
