NSIC Media Relations
NSIC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Tyler Naumowicz (Multis, Jr., Waukesha, Wis / Waukesha South HS) - Concordia-St. Paul
- Won the heptathlon at the NSIC Multi-Event Championships with 4710 points
- Moved from fifth to first on the second day of the event as he set a new personal record
- Finished second in the shot put (578 points), third in the pole vault (617 points) and 1000m (821 points), and fourth in the long jump (664 points) and 60m hurdles (846 points)
- Moved into 18th in Division-II in the heptathlon
- Gave CSP their second straight indoor heptathlon champion after Colin Goligoski took the crown last year
NSIC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Myles Hunter (Sprints, Jr., Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS) - Minnesota State
- Won the 60-meter hurdles in an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 7.71 at the SDSU Invitational
- Hunter’s time was the fastest in Division II this season and .02 a second off the best time in Division I
- This marks the third time this season Stewart has been named NSIC Track Athlete of the Week (12/8/16 & 1/12/16)
NSIC Team Notes
Augustana
Men’s Track
- Keegan Carda finished in second in the men’s 3000 meters with a time of 8:26.62, the time is a personal best for Carda at the SDSU Classic
- Ryan Heuer placed in third in the men’s 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.19 at the SDSU Classic
Concordia-St. Paul
Men’s Track
- David Stanley finished in the top-20 in both the long jump and 400m at the SDSU Classic
- Stanley picked up a 15th place finish with a distance of 21’0.75” in the long jump
- Stanley finished the 400m in 49.51 seconds, good for 18th
- Stanley also finished 52nd in the 200m
University of Mary
- U-Mary split its efforts between the SDSU Indoor Classic and the Thundering Herd Classic
Men’s Track
- Chris Jessop placed fifth in the 5,000 meter run at the South Dakota State Indoor Classic
- Jessop set the school record and met the NCAA provisional qualifying standards with a time of 14:40.89
- Jessop ranks third in the NSIC
- Nathan Inkman placed fourth at NDSU in the 800 meter run with a clocking of 1:58.68
Men’s Field
- At the Thundering Her Classic, senior Dustin Rueb placed second in the high jump (6-08.75) and third in the long jump (21-05.50)
- The Marauders next compete at the Bemidji State Twilight on February 19
Minnesota Duluth
- UMD competed at the University of St. Thomas Showcase Friday and the UW-Superior Yellowjacket Open on Saturday
Men’s Track
- Josh Peterson finished first in the mile run Friday, clocking in at 4:19.02
- Peterson won the 800-meter run at the Yellowjacket Open in a time of 1:58.70
Men’s Field
- Jason Lilja won the high jump at 6-6.75 at the Yellowjacket Open
MInnesota State
Men’s Track
- Junior Myles Hunter won the 60-meter hurdles in 7.71 at the SDSU Invitational
- Hunter’s time was the fastest in division II this season
Men’s Field
- Sophomore Alex Campbell participated in three events at the SDSU Invitational
- Campbell placed ninth in the long jump (22-0.75), second in the triple jump (46-05.25), and second in the high jump (6-08.75), which is tied for the 20th best high jump in Division II
MSU Moorhead
Men’s Track
- Brady Speicher had a big day at Thundering Herd Classic, earning two wins
- Speicher won the mile with a school record of 4:07.93, a time that is third-best in Division II this season when adjusted for track size
- Speicher’s time also the fastest in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference this season
- Speicher also captured the 800m with a time of 1:56.13, also fastest in the conference this season
Men’s Field
- Brian Huber won two events at the Thundering Herd Classic on Saturday
- Huber claimed the high jump with a season-best of 6-8.75, which is tied for fifth-best in the NSIC this season
- Huber also won the long jump with an effort of 23-11.5, his 24-11 effort earlier this season is best in the NSIC
Minot State
- Minot State recorded seven personals bests at the North Dakota State Thundering Herd Classic Saturday at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track and Field Facility
Men’s Track
- Tyler Bates had two top 10 finishes, taking fifth in the 200m with a time of 22.70 seconds and seventh in the 400m (51.46)
- Dylan Harvey and Chiti Nkhuwa both earned double PRs on the day
Men’s Field:
- Farai Madungwe took fifth in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 42-8
- Clarence Hardy was seventh in the men’s long jump with a 20-2.5 jump
- Minot State is off until the Northern Sun Indoor Track & Field Championships in Mankato, Minn., Feb. 26-27
Northern State
- NSU competed at the SDSU Indoor Classic, NDSU Thundering Herd Classic, and the NSIC Multi Events
Men’s Track
- Itoitz Rodriguez added to his stellar freshman campaign, winning the 400-meter dash at NDSU
- Rodriguez’s time of 49.45 ranks him 21st nationally in the event
- Tanner Peltier won the 5,000-meter run from NDSU in 16:33.71
Men’s Field
- TJ Hochstetler, Dillon Dahl, Deshonn Brown, and Zach Feil compete for the Wolves in the NSIC Multi events on Sunday and Monday
- Hochstetler was the top finisher for the Wolves with 4,258 points in 13th overall
- Northern will be back in action this Friday from the SDSU Last Chance Tune-up meet
Sioux Falls
- Sioux Falls Men’s Track & Field competed at the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D. this weekend
Men’s Track
- Freshman distance runner Mason Phillips broke the school record with a mile time of 4:12.63 to place sixth overall
- Phillips also set the USF all-time No. 4 mark in the 1,000-meter run and the No.5 time in the 3,000-meter run
- Teddy Frid placed seventh in the men’s 60-meter hurdles, clocking a best time of 8.38 seconds
Men’s Field
- Jacob Zebedee placed second, first among attached competitors, with a personal-best 5.00 meter (16-4.75) in the pole vault, which places him ninth in D2 this season
- Sioux Falls returns to Brookings this weekend for the SDSU Tune Up on Friday, Feb. 19
Southwest Minnesota State
Men’s Track
- Senior Will Hanson took home second place in the 60 meters with a time of 8.15 at the SDSU Classic
- Sophomore Evan Bonneson set a school record in the 5,000 meters crossing the finish line in 15:49.32 to place 40th out of more than 60 runners
- Junior Chris Kveseth finished eighth out of 47 in the 600 meters with a time of 1:22.26 at the SDSU Classic
- Kveseth also finished with a time of 1:55.42 to place 16th out of 94 in the 800 meters
- Kveseth was also a member of the SMSU’s 4x400 relay team that placed 12th out of 24 with a time of 3:23.83
Men’s Field
- Junior Raphael Lawson-Gayle finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.91m
- SMSU will return to Brookings this Friday for the South Dakota State Tune Up
St. Cloud State
- SCSU competed at the SDSU Indoor Classic Over the weekend
Men’s Track
- JoVonte Suber won the 400m in 48.22. The run also reached NCAA Provisional status
- The 4x400 relay team of Marcus Welk, JoVonte Suber, Wezley Turner and Isaiah Pitchford placed third in their event (3:17.16). The mark also reached NCAA Provisional status
- J.T. Butler finished 11th in the 200m dash (22.11)
Men’s Field
- Ryan Johnson won the men’s weight throw for the fourth time this season with a toss of 18.46m
- Johnson also competed in the shot put and placed 11th (14.84m)
- Keyshawn Davis finished fourth in the triple jump (14.11m)
- Davis also placed second in the long jump with a 7.29m, which is an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark
- SCSU is at the Snowshoe Open on Friday, Feb. 19 at the University of Minnesota
Wayne State
- Wayne State competed at the SDSU Indoor Classic held at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, South Dakota
Men’s Track
- Braxton Adams placed fifth out of a field of 85 runners in the 60 meter dash with a time of a time of 6.93
Men’s Field
- Sophomore Josh Spenner captured All-NSIC honors with a third place finish in the NSIC Indoor Heptathlon
- Spenner scored 4,788 points to reach an NCAA provisional mark in the event
- Spenner also topped his own school record, which was 4,707 points set at the Minnesota State Open on January 22-23
- Wayne State will compete again next Friday evening at the Husker Tune-up in Lincoln, Nebraska
