NSIC Player of the Week
#8 Cody Jenkins (3B, 5-11, 200, Jr., Englewood, Colo. (Cherry Creek HS) - Wayne State
- Went 10-for-15 (.667) in four-game series at Oklahoma Panhandle State
- Extended hit streak to seven games
- Had three doubles, one homer, seven RBI and eight runs scored with 1.067 slugging percentage
- Was 6 for 6 with a homer, a double, five RBI and five runs scored in 22-3 win on Sunday
- Went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored with three walks in 13-1 win Saturday
NSIC Pitcher of the Week
#28 Reese Gregory (RHP, 6-0, 195, Sr., R/R, St. Cloud, Minn. / Apollo HS) - St Cloud State
- Earned his second win of the season with a 5-1 victory over Dordt
- Allowed just two hits and no runs in 7.0 innings of work.
- Notched seven strikeouts in the game and only faced 23 batters in 7.0 innings
- In the second game against Dordt, Gregory was the designated hitter and had two hits in the game
- In the fourth inning of the second game, Gregory had an RBI double that scored the game winning run
Augustana
- The Vikings were idle last week
- Augie will return to action on March 5-6 with doubleheaders at Newman (Kan.)
Bemidji State
- BSU was idle last week
- Bemidji State plays its next games at Truman State University and William Jewell College March 4-6
- The Beavers will open the weekend with a two-game series against the Bulldogs, followed by a three-game series against the Cardinals.
Concordia-St. Paul
- Opens season March 3-6 in Tucson, Arizona
U-Mary
- Opened 2016 in Florida at the RUSSMATT Central Florida Invitational
- Went 1-4 through first five of ten scheduled games in Florida
- Sophomore right-handers Jake Johnson and Ryo Takenaka combined for an eight-inning extra inning no-hitter
- Johnson pitched first six innings, struck out five, walked five and allowed an earned run
- Takenaka retired all six hitters he faced in relief, including a strikeout, to earn his first win at U-Mary
- In his first action since missing last season to injury, All-NSIC performer Jason Shaul is hitting .429 with a .563 on base percentage and a .714 slugging percentage in the first give games of the season. He has one double and a home run
- Brad Meyer was 4-for-4 in the opening game of the season. He had a double and triple with two singles. For the year Meyer is 7-of-15.
Minnesota Crookston
- UMC opened the season with an 0-4 mark despite putting up a fight against a strong Missouri S&T squad
- UMC was up late on the Miners in the ninth inning on Saturday after a three-run home run in the top of the ninth from freshman Reed Hjelle
- Ryan Haggstrom hit .357 on the weekend against Missouri S&T team (was 5-of-14)
- Missouri S&T would get runs in the bottom half of the inning to come away with the win
- UMC will continue their non-conference slate with games March 5-6 against Dickinson State
Minnesota Duluth
- UMD was idle last week
- The Bulldogs return to action March 7-10 in Auburndale, Florida
Minnesota State
- The Mavericks were idle last week
- The Mavericks will play 10 games in the span of eight days from March 3-10
Minot State
- MISU was idle last week
- Minot State will travel to Arizona to compete in the Tucson Invitational from March 16-21
Northern State
- Opens season March 7-18 in Tucson, Arizona
Sioux Falls
- The Cougars have lost three straight after a three-game winning streak. USF fell to Metro State, 9-1, 10-4 and 1-0
- Josh Rehfeldt has a .515 batting average with 17 hits in 33 at bats
- Rehfeldt has scored eight runs with five doubles, and four RBI
- As a team USF is hitting .325 with seven HRs and 65 RBI in 11 games
- USF has a .454 slugging pct., and .406 OBP. Aside from Rehfeldt, Matthew Minnick is batting .429 and has a six-game hitting streak
- Minnick has a .643 slugging percentage and a .467 OBP.
- On the mound, USF has a 6.42 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 81.1 innings
- In three appearances, Christian Lazar has made three appearances with a 0.00 ERA in 3 1/3 innings
- Dan Johnson has made two starts with a 1.50 ERA and a 1-0 record. He has allowed just one run and six hits in six innings.
- USF will again travel for a pair of games on March 10-11 when they face Bethesda (Calif.) and La Sierra (Calif.)
SMSU
-SMSU opened the season with four losses at Newman University
-SMSU batted just .163 as a time in the four games
-Junior Tanner Picht led SMSU during the series with a pair of home runs and nine total bases
-SMSU returns to play on Saturday with the first of nine games in Tucson, Arizona
St. Cloud State
- The Huskies improved to 5-0 on the season with a twinbill sweep by scores of 5-1 and 2-1 on Feb. 27 against Dordt College
- The games vs. Dordt were played outdoors at Veterans Field in Minnetonka, Minn., which is one of the earliest outdoor games in Minnesota played by the Huskies in recent team history
- Senior first baseman Zach Hoffmann leads the club with eight hits this season
- Reese Gregory has 27 career wins with the Huskies and 199 career strikeouts
- The Huskies will take their show on the road to Tucson, Ariz. for a series of games in the southwest on March 7-15
Upper Iowa
- The Peacocks were idle last week
- UIU will now wait until the University’s spring break when they play 8 games from Mar. 6-12 in Clearwater, Fla. at the Winning Inning Invitational
Wayne State
- WSC went 3-1 over the weekend at Oklahoma Panhandle State

Winona State
- The Warriors went 1-3 while playing four games at Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo.
- Joe Kubera led the Warriors batting .421 in the four games with eight hits in 19 at-bats
- Mitchell Stalsberg earned his first win of the season in the Warriors’ 5-0 win over Maryville
- Stalsberg pitched six innings while giving up just two hits and no runs along with eight strikeouts
- Winona State (2-5) heads to Florida for six games beginning Saturday against Seton Hill in Winter Haven
