NSIC Player of the Week
#28 Reese Gregory (1B/DH, 6-0, 195, Sr., R/R, St. Cloud, Minn. / Apollo HS) - St. Cloud State

- Batted .579 as the Huskies beat MSU and took three of four from UIU
- Added 11 hits, 11 RBI, three doubles and five home runs in 19 at bats
- Charted two home runs, two runs and three RBI in 19-0 win over Upper Iowa
- Added another homerun, three RBI and two hits in 13-10 win over UIU
- Ended week with two more home runs, four hits, four RBI and three runs scored 14-4 win over UIU
- On the season, leads SCSU with 10 home runs
- Also owns a .432 batting average with 35 hits, nine doubles and 34 RBI

NSIC Pitcher of the Week
#22 Tyus Adkins (RHP, 6-0, 180, So., R/R, Coralville, Iowa    / Iowa City West HS) - Upper Iowa

- Threw a complete game to break St. Cloud State’s 23-game win streak
- Hurled nine-innings to improve to 3-2 on the season and hand SCSU its first loss of the season
- Allowed just one run on seven hits while striking out four
- Retired the last eight batters he faced

Augustana
- The Vikings capped off a perfect week going 6-0 with series sweeps over U-Mary and Northern State
- Augustana is currently on a season-high 11-game winning streak
- In the Vikings six games his week Alex Fink led the way offensively with a .522 batting average, 12 RBI, 2 home runs and 6 doubles
- The Vikings are now 10-5 on the road this season
- Ryne Lees pitches a complete game shutout against Northern State
- Augustana will be out on the road again this week as they travel to Minnesota State and then St. Cloud State
 
Bemidji State
- Bemidji State swept Northern State in a two-game road series before going 1-3 in a home series at Winona State
- BSU took its first NSIC wins at NSU, 9-6 and 11-9
- The Beavers were forced to move to Winona due to weather, but still served as the home team
- After losing its first three games to the Warriors, the Beavers took the final game of the series, 17-7 in seven innings
- The Beavers out hit their opponents .356 to .312 from the plate and led in fielding percentage
- Outfielder Tyler Nelson tied the program single-season record in triples with his fifth three-bagger in the final game against Winona State
- Catcher/designated hitter Gunner Olszewski hit his team-leading fifth home run, all coming during the NSIC schedule
- Outfielder Scott Litchy hit .545 over the past five games with 10 RBI, three doubles and two stolen bases
- Left-hander Nate Heisick picked up his first win as a starter and right-hander Patrick Gonzalez earned his first win on the season against Northern State
- Right-hander Jack Stigman recorded a career high nine strikeouts in six innings in BSU’s win over WSU
- Bemidji State officially begins its home schedule this week, hosting Minnesota Crookston April 13 for a doubleheader and Sioux Falls April 16-17 for a four-game series

Concordia-St. Paul
- The Golden Bears went 1-0 last week, topping Wayne State 9-4 at home before game two was cancelled ... the four game set at Minnesota Crookston was also cancelled
- Concordia has had eight games cancelled on the year, three non-conference and five conference
- Ben Suits went 2-4 with his fifth home run ... he also had an RBI single in a 7-run fifth inning as Concordia picked up its ninth comeback win of the year after trailing 4-2 in the game
- Josh Lenz improved to 3-0 with the win, he also has two saves in six appearances (all relief) with a 1.93 ERA, 14 strikeouts in 14.0 innings ... he worked 3.0 innings, allowing a run on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks
- Concordia has matched its best overall start in program history (15-3) through 18 games, and is off to a program record 8-1 record through nine games under 17th-year head coach Mark “Lunch” McKenzie
- Concordia’s 10-game road trip has been shortened to six games and will start on Wednesday at #1 St. Cloud State
- This weekend Concordia heads to Minnesota Duluth with an 18-22 record against the Bulldogs including 6-10 in Duluth

U-Mary
- U-Mary’s lone win in six games was a 2-1 victory over Minnesota State to snap a seven game losing streak against the Mavericks
- Tom Iholte was 10-of-21 with four runs scored and two RBI in six games, producing a line of .476 / .522 / .476
- Entering the weekend the sophomore catcher from St. Cloud, Minn., was 8th nationally in hitting and 18th in on-base percentage.
- Jason Shaul was second in the country in on base percentage (.588) and was 10th in batting average (.453). After a 6-for-15 effort on the week with four runs scored, three RBI, one double, one home run, three walks and three hit by pitches, Shaul is hitting .438 with a .580 on base percentage and a .644 slugging percentage
- Brad Meyer picked up the Marauders lone pitching win, a 2-1 victory over the Mavericks. The junior righty allowed one run in 6.1 innings and struck out five
- Zach Steckler pitched a complete game in a loss at Augie on Wednesday and picked up a save against MSU on Sunday. In 6.2 innings the senior from West Fargo, N.D., struck out eight hitters and allowed seven hits, three earned runs and two walks
- The Marauders step out of NSIC play to visit NCAA Division I North Dakota State in a single game
- U-Mary continues its 14 game Northern Sun home stand against Winona State on April 16-17
   
Minnesota Crookston
- UMC is 13-10 on the season with a 6-3 conference mark. The Golden Eagles are in fifth place in the conference standings heading into the week
- Minnesota Crookston played just two games last week, falling in both to Sioux Falls
- The Golden Eagles’ weekend series against Concordia University-St. Paul was cancelled due to weather
- Minnesota Crookston is led on the season by Reed Hjelle, who is hitting .402 with 20 runs and 20 RBI  He has had an outstanding freshman season
- UMC senior Kenny Perez has had an outstanding season at the plate. Perez is hitting .402 with 12 runs scored, six home runs and 28 RBI
- Senior Ryan Haggstrom has also been outstanding, with a .386 batting average, 26 runs scored, three home runs and 24 RBI
- UMC is hitting .311 on the season as a team
- On the mound, Nolan Wahlberg is 5-1 with a 5.23 ERA in 43.0 innings pitched
- Luke Thoma comes into the week with a 3-0 mark and a 5.11 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched

Minnesota Duluth
- UMD took 3-of-4 from Sioux Falls in a “home” series on the road in South Dakota, including a Sunday walk-off victory in extra innings
- Senior first baseman Alex Wojciechowski made Bulldog history hitting for the cycle in Saturday’s 31-16 offensive showcase with his 16th home run of the season, establishing a UMD single season record. He also scored six runs in the game, also a Bulldog program high
- The 31 runs scored and 31 runs batted in were both team single-game highs for UMD as were six hit-batters, which along with 10 walks helped UMD score that many runs with only 20 hits
- Senior third baseman Kyle Comer continued his hot streak, hitting .588/.632/1.059 in the four-game set (10-for-17) with team highs of two homers, two doubles, 13 runs batted in, and 12 runs scored. He has 18 hits in the last seven games
- Junior lefty Kevin Stocke tosses 5.1 innings without allowing an earned run in the Bulldogs’ extra inning-win on Sunday
- Senior left-hander Bo Hellquist threw 5.0 innings, striking out six and allowing one run while picking up his fourth victory of the season

Minnesota State
- Mavericks move to 17-10 (8-5 NSIC) after going 3-2 over the last week with three wins over U-Mary and one loss to the Marauders on Sunday while suffering loss to No. 1 St. Cloud State last Wednesday
- Sophomore Luke Waldek went 8-16 in four games at Mary with four runs, five batted in, two doubles, and two home runs, including 4-5 performance in 12-8 victory on Saturday
- The Mavericks have now outscored their opponents 190 to 147 on the season
- MSU now has five hitters hitting .316 or better on the season while five Maverick pitchers have collected three wins each
- Minnesota State is now 10-3 when they hit at least one homer in a game and 7-7 when they do not
- The Mavericks have 12-3 record when they are leading after six, a 7-0 record when leading after seven, and a 7-0 record when leading after eight
- Minnesota State is 13-6 on the season when they score first as opposed to 4-4 when their opposition scores first
- The Mavericks get set to host a pair of Northern Sun games this week as they play Augustana on Wednesday in a double header before starting a 12-game road-stand beginning next Wednesday, April 20, as the head to Fayette, Iowa to play the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University in a double-header match up

Minot State
-Minot State went 0-4 on the week in a midweek game at NDSU and three home games against WSC
-The Beavers totaled 27 total runs in the four games with the use of four home runs
-Celestino Rodriguez hit two HRs and totaled eight RBI on the week to move his totals to nine and 28 respectively
-Connor Oliver pitched 4.2 innings in two games allowing one earned run while striking out five batters, also went 4-for-5 in his one game batting
-Minot State will host Southwest Minnesota State next weekend in a four-game series

Northern State
- Northern State tallied a shaky week in NSIC playing falling to both Bemidji State and Augustana in each series
- The Wolves enter the week with an 11-13 record overall and 4-8 record in league action
- Jack Schmidt led the NSU offense on the week going 10-for-23 at the plate
- Schmidt added five runs score, six RBI, and three doubles
- Schmidt currently sits top-10 in the NSIC in hits and batting average
- Northern will look to sharpen things up on defense after giving up 18 errors in the six games last week
- The Wolves had previously given up 32 errors in the in the first 18 games of the season
- NSU will hit the road Wednesday for a  non-conference game versus Jamestown before returning home Saturday and Sunday versus Wayne State

Sioux Falls
- The Cougars defeated Minnesota-Crookston, 14-1 and 15-8 before dropping 3-of-4 to UMD
- USF defeated UMD 13-8 in the final after falling 17-8, 31-16 and 5-4 in a high-scoring series at Harmodon Park
- USF has split its past six games.
- In the six games, USF hit .393 with 86 hits in 219 at bat
- USF had 70 runs scored with 16 doubles, two triples and nine homeruns
- Josh Rehwaldt and Dylan Gavin hit .481 while Anthony Lopez batted .476
- USF has jumped their batting average from .319 to .339, which is fourth in the NSIC
- Sioux Falls will host Upper Iowa on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

SMSU
- Derek Branson in two games last week, batted .625 (5 for 8) with two home runs, three doubles and three RBI in a road split with Winona State
- He went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer in an 8-2 game one loss to WSU
- In game two, tied a career-high with four hits, finishing 4 for 5 with four runs scored, including a home run and tying a school single-game record with three doubles
- For the season, he is batting .368, ranking second on the team, with seven doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI
- SMSU was idle this past weekend and returns to play on Wednesday hosting Minnesota Duluth for a doubleheader

St. Cloud State
- The Huskies currently own a 25-1, 10-1 NSIC record in 2016
- SCSU suffered its first loss of the season on April 9 with a 3-1 setback against Upper Iowa at Joe Faber Field
- The loss snapped a 23-game winning streak for the Huskies
- The 23-game win streak tied a team record set in 2015 for most consecutive victories by the Huskies
- SCSU set a new single-game team record by pounding out nine homers in the Huskies’ 19-0 victory over UIU on April 9 at Joe Faber Field
- The old record of eight homers in a game was set against Southwest Minnesota State in 1990
- In the topic of home runs, SCSU charted 16 home runs in the four game set against Upper Iowa.  Reese Gregory led the way with five home runs in the four games, while Karl Sorensen had three homers last week
- On the season, SCSU has 48 home runs after 26 games, which averages 1.8 homers per game.  Last year, SCSU set a team record with 62 home runs in 59 games played (an average of 1.1 homers per game)
- As a team, SCSU is batting .397 and the Huskies have outhit their opponents 378-178 this season.  SCSU has also outscored its opponents 300-95 this season
- SCSU set a team record in 2010 by scoring 511 runs in 58 games played, which averaged 8.8 runs per game.  In 2016, the Huskies are currently averaging 11.5 runs scored per game this spring
- Judd Davis is leading SCSU this year with a .485 batting average
- Karl Sorensen paces SCSU this spring with 44 hits, 77 total bases and 39 RBI
- Sheldon Miks is now 6-0 on the season with a 0.78 ERA in 46.1 innings of work
- The Huskies will continue its current homestand with games at Joe Faber Field against Concordia St. Paul on April 13 and Augustana on April 16-17
 
Upper Iowa
- The Peacocks claimed a 3-1 victory in game two of their four-game series with #1 St. Cloud State to hand the Huskies their only loss of the season
- SCSU claimed the series 3-1 outscoring their guests 57-27 in the series fueled by a 19-0 win in game one and a 14-4 (7) win in game four
- UIU challenged for a second win in the series in game three but lost a shootout 13-10
- Tyus Adkins threw a complete game with 9 innings of work against SCSU while allowing only one run to pick up the victory with 4 strikeouts
- Alex George had a team-high 5 hits, while Anthony Calton recorded 4 hits including a home run and a double with 3 RBI
- Jacob Greco (4 hits) and Colton Janssen (3 hits) each hit three-run homers in game three and had 4 rbi apiece over the weekend
- Upper Iowa remains on the road for six more games this week with a double header at Sioux Falls on Wednesday and a four-game series at Minnesota Crookston on Saturday and Sunday

Wayne State
- Wayne State was 3-1 during the week, losing at Conc. St. Paul 9-4 followed by three wins at Minot State
- WSC hit 12 homers in three-game sweep at Minot State
- Albert Johnson hit team-high .615 going 8 for 13 with seven runs scored
- Nate Ackerman was 6 for 15 with five homers, nine RBI and seven runs scored
- Mitch Ragan struck out 12 batters in six innings of work in Saturday’s 5-3 win at Minot State
- WSC hosts Winona State Wednesday and visits Northern State in a four-game NSIC series Saturday and Sunday

 Winona State
- The Warriors posted a 4-2 record, splitting with SMSU Thursday before taking a series against BSU 3-1
- Mitch Voter batted .455 (10-22) with a double, home run and 3 RBI
- Voter also picked up three saves without allowing a hit and tallying six strikeouts
- Joe Kubera batted .400 (8-20) with eight hits and 9 RBI
- WSU (9-17, 6-7 NSIC) travels to Wayne State Wednesday and U-Mary for a four-game weekend series
