Minnetonka, Minn. – Upper Iowa, the two seed, advanced to the semifinals of the NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament following a 5-1 win over Bemidji State University, the seven seed. With the win, the Peacocks (12-8) advance to Sunday morning's semifinal match, where they will take on the winner of the St. Cloud State - Sioux Falls match.
UIU claimed two of the three doubles matches with wins at number one and three. Saki Kawabata and Isabella Sellapaired up for an 8-4 win and Jemina Linn Sorman and Yulia Prokopyshyn teamed up for the 8-3 win. Kelly Jachymowskiand Anna Okolot lost a hard fought match at number two, 9-8 (7-5).
The Peacocks wrapped up their victory with three singles wins at number one, two and five. The three Peacock winners included Kawabata (6-0,6-1), Sella (6-3, 6-1) and Okolot (6-3, 6-2). The other three matches were suspended after Upper Iowa notched their fifth victory to claim the dual. UIU was ahead in two of the three suspended matches.
The Peacocks advance to Sunday morning’s semifinal match, where they will take on the winner of the St. Cloud State versus Sioux Falls match at 8 a.m.
