Northern State

- Led the Wolves from the Midwest Duals going a perfect 4-0
- Tallied two technical fall and two decision wins
- Notched wins over Josh Weinberg (17-2), Clay Archer (20-17), Nick Swanson (11-5), and Orlando Guerra (18-3)
- Out-scored his opponents 66-27 in the four matches
- His victories over CSU Pueblo and Colorado Mesa, came against wrestlers ranked in the top-5 of Super Region Four
- He is now 17-3 this season and on a 10-match wins streak dating back to the SD Showdown in early December
- Named NSIC Wrestler of the Week for the third time this season (11/8/16 & 12/20/16)

- Extended season win streak to five matches with wins over New Mexico Highlands (30-9) and Central Missouri (28-18) in the first two rounds of the Midwest Duals
- Win streak snapped with losses to Western State Colorado and Colorado Mines, both receiving votes in the national poll
- Marauders opened the victory over New Mexico Highlands with seven straight wins
- Down 14-13 to Central Missouri, a Dane Fischer pin at 174 and a Jacob Green victory via a medical forfeit pushed the Marauders to the 28-14 win over the Mules
- The Marauders visit Minnesota State on Jan. 20 before returning for three straight home duals

- Soph. Tate Barnhardt was perfect at the Midwest Duals at 133, winning all four matches
- He defeated NM Highlands Jack Gaylor 6-2, Central Missouri’s John Feeney 7-4, Western State Colorado’s Tyler Haneberg 10-4 and Noah Au-Yeung of Colorado Mines 6-4. He improves to 18-6 this year
- Jr. Dane Fischer was 3-1 at the Midwest duals with two of the wins by fall. The St. Mary’s HS graduate defeated NM Highlands Jacob Hawthorne 10-8, pinned UCM’s Dylan Lewis and WSCU’s Brendan Gonzales before suffering a 7-3 loss to Robert Gambrell (CSM) at 174 pounds
- Josh Jensen was 3-1 at 125. He shut out Jacob Espana (NMH) 2-0, picked up a forfeit against UCM, was pinned by nationally-ranked Ronald Wardleigh (WSCU) before finishing with a decisive 8-3 win over Matthew Lavengood (CSM) 8-3

- Louie Sanders, Dylan Herman, Adam Cooling, and Matt Blome all finished 2-0, picking up victories in both duals throughout the week
- Junior Dylan Herman recorded pins over Logan Rhode (MSUM) and Dan Gainer (Saint John’s)
- Louie Sanders won a 14-4 major decision over regionally ranked Kristian Vazquez (MSUM)

- Senior Blake Bosch improved to 20-1 on the season with two wins,  is ranked No. 3 in the nation and now has 103 career wins
- MSUM has just one home conference match left on Jan. 27 vs. Northern State

- Senior Nader Abdullatif went 2-0 at 285 and recorded a win by fall against MSU to improve to 14-7 on the season

- After getting a little banged up versus Augustana, the Northern State Wolves traveled to the UNK Midwest Duals for four duals against San Francisco State, CSU Pueblo, Colorado Mesa, and New Mexico Highlands
- Due to injuries, Northern tallied open matches at both 125 and 133 pounds throughout the day giving the team the challenge to battle back
- The Wolves tallied wins over San Francisco State (24-21) and New Mexico Highlands (27-18) 
- A total of six Wolves tallied at least one victory on the day
Top Performer(s)
- Tyler Stenberg was the only Wolf to go a perfect 4-0 in wrestled matches
- The senior tallied two decision and two technical fall victories as he is now 17-3 this season
- Joe Gomez also went 3-0 with three decision victories, bringing the senior’s career win total 92

- The Huskies scored a 30-6 win over #8 McKendree and a 31-10 victory over #8 Findlay
- SCSU suffered its first loss of the season with a 22-17 loss to Indianapolis
- The Huskies also gained a 41-6 win over Central Missouri on Jan. 12 in St. Cloud, Minn.
- The loss on Jan. 14 snapped a 19 dual match winning streak for the Huskies
- The last loss for the Huskies was a setback against Notre Dame (OH) at the 2016 NWCA Duals
- #3 Vince Dietz leads SCSU this season with an 19-1 record at 197-pounds.  #1 Austin Goergen is 17-0 this season at 285-pounds with 10 falls

- SCSU senior #1 Austin Goergen was 4-0 this week with a fall win against UCM and two falls at the Ranger Duals
- #3 Vince Dietz was 4-0 in action at 197-pounds over the week

- Upper Iowa claimed six of the ten bouts in Moorhead, Minn. against the Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead to win 19-13 and improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Northern Sun
- The Peacocks scored five decisions and one major decision to secure the victory
- UIU posted a pair of sudden victories at 125 and 165 pounds and a 17-12 advantage in takedowns

- Damian Penichet  (#12) took the mat for the 149 pound match and gave UIU the lead again with a dominating 13-0 major decision
-The redshirt sophomore posted three takedowns and a four-point nearfall to highlight his bonus-point victory
- Maleek Williams (125), Penichet, Zak Benitz (157), Nick Georgean (165), Nick Baumler (184) and Ryan Parmely (197) all picked up victories for UIU
