Upper Iowa

- Went 2-0 with a major decision as Upper Iowa went 2-0 in NSIC duals
- Defeated Cortez Arredondo of SMSU 9-4, scoring a four-point nearfall to pull away for the win on Thursday
- Earned a 13-3 major decision over No.2 ranked Tyler Stenberg of Northern State
- Carried a 4-1 lead on Stenberg headed into the final period thanks to a takedown in each of the first two periods
- Put the match out of reach in the third with three takedowns, two nearfall points and a ride time point in the ten-point win
- Ranked No. 11 nationally and No. 2 regionally with a record of 19-5

- Defeated SMSU, 32-3, in Marshall, Minn. on Saturday to move to 2-0 in NSIC duals
- Only dropped one match against the Mustangs and tallied three bonus point victories
- Brandon Charbonneau is ranked 11th at 133 and Aero Amo is ranked 7th at 184, with the team receiving votes in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Poll

- Brandon Carroll (125) earned the lone pin against SMSU in the first match of the dual
- Brandon Charbonneau (133) and Lukas Poloncic (174) each notched major decisions

- Three of the Marauders four home matches for the season occur in the next two weeks. Mary hosts Southwest Minnesota State and Augustana on back-to-back days (Jan. 27-28) before MSU Moorhead visits on Feb. 5

- Soph. Tate Barnhardt won his ninth straight match and improved to 19-6 this season with a 5-2 win over Minnesota State’s Paul Selman on Friday. Barnhardt is undefeated in the 133 pound weight division in the Marauders ten duals this year
- Josh Jensen dominated Trevor Schultz for a 13-2 major decision at 125 in the Marauders NSIC dual at MSU. The sophomore collected four takedowns in the match

- The Huskies posted a pair of NSIC victories over Minnesota State Moorhead (38-3) and #14 Northern State (41-3) last week in dual match competition
- SCSU was ranked #1 in the latest DII national poll as a team and nine Huskies were ranked individually in the poll led by #1 Austin Goergen at 285 and #3 Vince Dietz at 197.  Also ranked were Matt Nelson (#5 at 141), Mike Rhone (#12 at 133), Clayton Jennissen (#4 at 174), Uthman Rabiu (#5 at 184), Larry Bomstad (#8 at 157), Brett Velasquez (#6 at 125) and Gabe Fogarty (#9 at 165)
- Austin Goergen owns a perfect 17-0 record this season with 10 falls to his credit.  Vince Dietz continues to impress this season with a 20-2 overall record for SCSU.  James Pleski is 16-6 this year for SCSU at 149
- SCSU returns to action on Jan. 26 with a home dual against Stearns County rival St. John’s University.  On Jan. 29, SCSU will send wrestlers to the annual North Country Open on the campus of St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota

- At 149 pounds, James Pleski scored a pair of wins last week.  He scored a 3-1 win over Dylan Connell of MSUM and a big 7-5 win over #2 ranked Tyler Stenberg of Northern State
- Mike Hobbs earned a tech fall against Northern State and a fall in action against MSUM last week
- Brett Velasquez (125), Uthman Rabiu (184) and Brett Stolarzyk (157) all gained two wins last week in dual match action against MSUM and NSU

- The Peacocks, currently ranked #24, scored ten bonus-point wins including three by fall, three by tech fall and four by major decision
- UIU claimed a 29-2 advantage in takedowns during their dual with #14 Northern State

- Damian Penichet (#11) went 2-0 on the week with a 13-3 major decision over Tyler Stenberg (#2) of NSU
- Logan Hopp (#5, 285) also went 2-0 with a pair of technical falls by scores of 17-2 and 23-8; the Peacock heavyweight only allowed his opponents to score on escapes
- Zak Benitz (157) also had a big week with a pair of bonus-point victories; the redshirt-senior scored a major decision win at SMSU and then got a win by fall (:59) at home against the Wolves to improve to 17-6 on the year
- Maleek Williams (125), Josh Walker (133), Jordan Roths (141) and Dalton Westerlund (174) all went 2-0 as well
