NSIC Offensive Player of the Week
#41 Ryan Parmely (RB, 6-0, 215, Jr., Delhi, Iowa / Maquoketa Valley HS)
Upper Iowa

- Ran for a career-high 250 yards on 43 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns in a 31-20 win over SMSU
- The 250 yards is the highest single-game total in the NSIC this season
- The 250 yards is the most at UIU since Chris Smith ran for 258 against Sioux Falls in 2013 and the fourth highest total in UIU history

Minnesota State

- Recorded five tackles, including 2.5 for a loss in a 27-6 win over No. 10 WSU
- Posted 2.0 sacks in the game for a loss of 15 yards and forced a fumble
- Recovered a fumble and returned it 12 yards for a touchdown to put MSU up 14-6

- Converted 4-of-4 field goals and an extra point in 21-14 victory over Augustana
- Connected on field goals from 18, 26, 43 and 20 yards out
- Added a punt down to the Augie one yard line late in the game
- Averaged 34.8 yards on five punts with a long of 41 yards in windy conditions, placing two inside the 20
- Leads NSIC with 17 punts placed inside the 20 yard line with a total of 67 in his career

- After the Bulldogs scored a touchdown in the first and second quarters, the “Gang Green” defense allowed just three points in the second half
- Both teams combined for 20 pass attempts and nine completions while also combining for 90 rushing attempts

- Senior quarterback Jordan Hein totaled 42 passing yards on 13 attempts and six completions

- WSC scored on a 3rd and 14 from the 15 yard line with 23 seconds to play
- CSP’s defense forced three fumbles (recovering two) and had six pass breakups on WSC’s 14 incomplete passes, limiting the Wildcats to 109 passing yards (10-24), adding three sacks

- Junior Jonas Schenderlein tied a school record by making three field goals (38, 22, 37), the 10th time in school history and his second time, both coming in the last two weeks
- Schenderlein has 13 FGM in 2017, tied for second most in CSP history; and his 24 career FGM is third in school history, one shy of second on the career list
- Sophomore Maxon Hutton rushed 17 times for 86 yards and a 9 yard touchdown and completed 11-17 for 136 yards
- Sophomore Marcus Gustaveson had five catches for 98 yards including two of 30-plus yards
- Freshman Blake Evans led the CSP defense with 10 tackles, 2.0 TFL and a sack
- Senior Andrew Capirchio had five tackles, three pass breakups and 2.0 TFL

- The Marauders ran for 270 yards against the Dragons in the Paddle Trophy game and is second in the NSIC and 12th in NCAA at 233.4 rushing yards/game
- With two sacks against MSUM, UMary has had multiple sacks in four straight games. The Marauders are 5th in the NSIC in sacks this season with 21
- UMary is fifth in the NSIC in 3rd down conversion percentage at 37.1
- This week’s game at Northern State is the third Thursday contest this season for UMary

- Brock Pittlsey picked up a sack for the fourth straight game and is third in the NSIC with seven this season
- Garrett Weissinger ran for a career-best 91 yards and a touchdown against the Dragons
- True freshmen wide receivers Anthony Shepherd and Luke Little both caught scoring passes against the Dragons. Shepherd had two catches for 30 yards – including a 21 yard touchdown catch. Little caught a 10 yard touchdown. He has three catches this year, all for touchdowns
- Noah Krebs had eight tackles and is sixth in the NSIC with 81 tackles
- Soph. P Bailey Meyer is second in the NSIC at 40.6 yards per punt. He completed a 15 yard pass against the Dragons

Team Notes
- Minnesota Crookston is currently ranked No. 1 in the NSIC and ninth in the nation for kickoff returns with an average of 26.03 yards per kickoff return. Junior Rod Stewart currently ranks fourth in the nation for kickoff returns with 32.3 yards per kickoff return
- Adam Connette pulled within one touchdown reception of the school record of 23 receiving touchdowns set by Carl Aho. Connette had two receiving touchdowns Saturday against Minot State
- Rod Stewart continues to move up the charts for Minnesota Crookston. Stewart is fourth all-time for receptions with 109. He needs 28 to surpass Carl Aho for third. He is also fourth for receiving yards with 1,397 yards. Stewart needs 242 yards to tie Mark Olsonawski for third for receiving yards.
- Joseph Nava set a school-record with five passing touchdowns in Saturday’s game against Minot State

- Rod Stewart notched five catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns against Minot State. He also had two kickoff returns for 65 yards with a long of 55
- Adam Connette tallied seven receptions for 88 yards and two touchdowns versus Minot State. Connette had two kickoff returns for 75 yards with a long of 46
- Joseph Nava was 20-of-25 for 241 yards with five touchdowns and one interception
- Trevor Long, Jr. notched 14 tackles against Minot State

University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs
Last Week Season Record Streak Preseason Poll
W 17-0 at BSU 7-2, 5-0 North W6 2nd Overall, 1st North
Team Notes
- For only the second time in school history, UMD has posted three straight shutouts in the same season, with the latest being a 17-0 takedown of host Bemidji State last Thursday night in blustery conditions at Chet Anderson Stadium
- The Bulldogs blanked four opponents in a row back in 1934, the fifth year at UMD
- The Bulldogs gave up just 50 yards (in 36 plays) of total offense in the victory – its 16th straight over Bemidji State. The last UMD opponent to accumulate less overall yards was those same Beavers in 1996 (33 yards on 40 plays)
- UMD ran the ball a 2017 season-high 67 times against the Beavers while attempting just seven passes. The Bulldogs also recovered three fumbles and blocked a punt
- On Thursday night in Bemidji, UMD became the last NCAA II team in to allow a fourth down conversion (Bemidji State was 1-for-2 in that situation)
- With a victory over UMC on Saturday, UMD would capture at least a share of its 10th consecutive NSIC North Division - The Bulldogs are 61-3 all-time in NSIC North Division play and a perfect 33-0 at home
- Saturday will mark the final collegiate home appearances for 18 Bulldog seniors
- During UMD’s three-game shutout run opponents are 3-for-34 on third conversions. UMD ranks third in the nation in third down conversion defense (24.8 percent) and first in fourth down conversion defense (12.5 percent)

- Junior running back Anthony Wood rushed a career-high 29 times for 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns against Bemidji, his second 100-yard rushing game as a Bulldog (he transferred to UMD this fall from Fullerton College).
- Junior wide out Jason Balts, the lone Bulldog to catch at least one pass in all nine games to date, had a pair of receptions at Bemidji to hike his team lead to 42 (nine shy of his career high which he set last year.
- Senior outside linebacker Zach Bassuener, a 2016 All-NSIC first team pick, has been credited with 19.0 sacks during his collegiate career which puts him in a tie for fourth place (with 2016 NSIC Defensive Player of the Year Beau Bates) on UMD’s all-time charts.

- Minnesota State extended its winning streak to 11 games with its win over Winona State
- Larry Moore, Evan Perrizo and Zach Dodge each recorded two sacks against Winona State
- The Mavericks held the Warriors to six points and 233 yards of offense, including just 17 rushing yards
- Minnesota State recorded six turnovers against the Warriors, including two interceptions by Jack Curtis
- As a team, MSU tallied 319 yards of offense, including 205 passing yards
- Shane Zylstra caught his 12th touchdown pass of the season in MSU’s win over Winona State

- Larry Overstreet rushed for 111 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown with 18 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, which marked his second 100-yard rushing game of the season
- Quarterback Zac Cunha was 20-of-27 for 171 yards and three touchdowns and he also rushed for a touchdown
- Bryce Broome is ranked third in the NSIC averaging 10.3 tackles per game
- Lane Torgerson is ranked eighth in the NSIC averaging 21.1 yards per kickoff return

Team Notes
- The Northern State University football team rattled off three touchdowns in the first quarter on Saturday, which held for the 21-16 victory
- NSU tallied 395 yards of total offense, including a game high 280 yards passing
- They suffered just three penalties, a season low, and forced six
- Offensively they converted on 6-of-18 third downs, and 2-of-2 fourth downs
- Defensively, NSU led the game with three sacks for a total loss of 26 yards
Top Performer(s)
- Cody Kraft and Cameron Eisenhauer notched the two receiving touchdowns for the Wolves
- Hunter Trautman threw for a career high 280 yards with two touchdowns and a 47 yard long
- Noah MacPherson did it all on defense, leading the team with 11 tackles and adding one sack, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown

- Led by a smothering defense and a productive offense, the No. 14 University of Sioux Falls Football Team (8-1, 4-1 NSIC South) put together a 21-14 victory over Augustana (3-6, 1-4 NSIC South) in the “Key to the City” game Saturday at Bob Young Field
- USF extended its series lead over the Vikings to 5-1 in “Key to the City” matchups
- Has been ranked for 44 straight weeks in both the AFCA Coaches and D2Football.com polls; moved up to No. 14 in AFCA Coaches poll and No. 13 in the D2Football.com poll
- Against AU, limited Augustana to 178 total yards, including 58 rushing
- Has the league’s top defense, leading the NSIC and ranking No. 2 nationally in scoring defense at 10.2 ppg, rushing defense at 59.7 yards per game, and total defense at 229.8 yards per game
- Has held five of eight opponents to under 200 yards in total offense
- Extended streak of scoring in a game to 148 straight games.   
Top Performer(s)
- NSIC sack leader Dennis Gardeck had his 13th sack of the year, 10 tackles, forced fumble, two TFLs and had a safety in 21-14 victory over Augustana
- Gardeck was part of a defense that held AU to 178 total yards including a net 58 yards rushing
- Senior Jason Towns had career highs in carries with 29 and yards with 154 while scoring eighth TD of the season in the win against AU
- Towns also had a career high 194 all-purpose yards
-  Junior  wide receiver Anthony Holmes had six catches for 81 yards, including an acrobatic 36 yard catch in the fourth quarterr
- Placekicker/punter Stuart Vanden Heuvel hade 4-of-4 field goals (18, 26, 43, 20), including a 43-yard field goal as USF took the lead 16-14 in the fourth quarter as USF rallied for the win. He also made a 20-yard field goal later in the fourth quarter to build a five-point lead

Team Notes
- SMSU lost its sixth straight game on Saturday at Upper Iowa by a score of 31-20
- SMSU’s six-game losing streak is its longest since the 2003 season
- Sophomore quarterback Boyer Bouman made his second career start and completed 21 of 42 pass attempts for 278 yards and three touchdowns
- Senior wide receiver Nate Huot caught a game-high nine passes for 114 yards and one touchdown
- SMSU had its three-game streak of not reaching double figure scoring snapped in the loss to UIU
- SMSU forced two turnovers in the loss to UIU and now has 19 on the season ranking 34th in Division II
- SMSU is ninth in Division II in turnover margin (+1.33)
- SMSU has lost just one fumble (on kickoff return) this season, ranking tied for first in Division II with Northern Michigan
- Junior linebacker Alex Ney ranks sixth in Division II in tackles per game at 11.8

- Senior wide receiver Nate Huot, the NSIC’s all-time leader in receptions, has moved into a tied for third in school history with 29 receiving touchdowns
- He also ranks second in team history with 3,115 receiving yards and is third with 245 receptions
- Junior linebacker Shane Ratkovich finished with a game-high 21 tackles including one for loss while forcing and recovering a fumble in the loss to UIU. The 21 tackles are the highest total by an SMSU player in more than 20 years
- Junior linebacker Alex Ney finished the game on Saturday with 17 tackles with one forced fumble

Last Week Season Record Streak Preseason Poll
L 21-16 vs. NSU 6-3, 3-2 North L1 10th overall, 5th in North
Team Notes
- The Huskies fell behind 21-0 after the first quarter and rallied but came up short in a 21-16 loss to Northern State
- SCSU is now 14-6 all-time against NSU, but have lost the last four contests to the Wolves
- The loss snapped both the recent three-game winning streak and three-game home winning streak
- The program continued the trend of outscoring opponents in second halves and outscored Northern State in the last 30 minutes of game action 9-0
- The program is outscoring teams 144- 58 in second halves of games this season

- Gregory Lewis ran for 101 yards and a touchdown
- Lewis has now eclipsed 100 yards rushing in each of his last four games
- That is the longest streak for an SCSU running back since Matt Birkel had five straight during the 2005 season
- Carvel Graham picked off his fifth pass of the season
- Anthony Carver caught a 30-yard touchdown pass
- Adam Stage made a 34-yard field goal and has now made 10 field goals this season
- His 10 made field goals are tied for the seventh most made in a single season in school history

Team Notes
- The Peacocks snapped a nine-game losing streak to SMSU with a 31-20 victory on Homecoming Weekend in Fayette
- Upper Iowa won their second game in a row and third game in the south division to secure a winning season for the fourth time in the last five years
- UIU held a massive 365-20 advantage in rushing yards, while SMSU moved the ball in the air with a 278-81 advantage in passing yards
- The Peacocks dominated time of possession and held the ball for 41:27 while the Mustangs only had the rock for 18:33

- Ryan Parmely ran for a career-high 250 yards and 2 touchdowns on 43 carries to set the new single-game high in the NSIC this season and put his name in the UIU record books with the fourth best single-game total in program history
- Backup quarterback Kyle Domin started due to injury seeing his first collegiate action; he made the most of it with 111 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns and also added 81 passing yards
- Tanner Thompson led the defense with 8 tackles. while Keith Schwickerath, Emmanuel Otoo, and Nate Roemereach added 4 tackles
- Jordan Rommes, Mitchel Siech, and Nic Patterson tallied three apiece
- Jojo Simpson and Christian Ruff tallied 2 and 1 tackles for loss, respectively
