NSIC Women's Basketball Players of the Week


NSIC North  Division Player of the Week
#23 Sammy Kozlowski (G, 5-9, Jr., New Berlin, Wis. / New Berlin Eisenhower HS)
Minnesota Duluth

- Averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 steals in wins versus SMSU (72-57) and Sioux Falls (69-51)
- Shot 52 percent from the floor (13-of-25) including makes on five of her eight attempts from three point range
- Led the team in scoring each night, knocking down 17 points vs. SMSU and 16 points versus USF
- Has scored in double figures in all but one game this season
- Leads the NSIC in assists per game with 5.3, second in steals per game with 2.3 and sits fourth in scoring at 15.4 points per game

NSIC South Division Player of the Week
#35 Presley O’Farrell (G, 5-11, Sr., Summit, S.D. / Summit H.S.)
Augustana

- Averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in wins over Minot State and UMary
- Scored 12 points, corralled six rebounds, dished out six assists, snagged four steals and tallied one block in a 83-52 win over Minot State
- Recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards in Saturday’s 77-62 win over U-Mary
- Helped Augie to improve to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the NSIC
 
Augustana University Vikings

- The Vikings start the season 9-0 for the first time since the 2012-13 which was the year Augustana made it to the final four
- The Vikings jumped into the rankings in both polls last week. Augustana is ranked 23 in the WBCA Coaches poll and 20 in the D2SIDA poll
- Augustana leads the NSIC in scoring offense, averaging 85.1 points-per-game
- The Vikings also lead the conference in scoring margin, averaging 22.7 more points-per-game than their opponents
- Augustana ranks fourth in the NSIC with a 43.9 shooting percentage
- The Vikings lead the conference in turnover margin (6.71) and assist/turnover radio (1.43)
Top Performer(s)
- In Friday’s game vs. Minot State, the Vikings had three players score in double-figures
- Logan O’Farrell poured in a team-high 12 points while Presley O’Farrell and Shelby Selland each had 11 points
- Logan O’Farrell also dished out six assists, corralled six rebounds and snagged six steals
- In Saturday’s game vs. U-Mary, the Vikings had another three players score in double-figures
- Presley O’Farrell and Logan O’Farrell each scored a team-high 16 point. Selland scored 13 points
- Presley O’Farrell had a double-double adding 10 rebounds in the game

- BSU outscored NSU, 26-14, in the fourth quarter, but entered the period facing a 51-29 deficit
- The Beavers shot 29.3 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from beyond the arc, and scored 35 points off the bench
- Bemidji State was outscored by five points in each of the first and second quarters before again being outscored by two points in the third and 11 in the fourth
- BSU shot 29.8 percent from the floor and 35.0 percent from long range, and totaled 29 bench points led by sophomore center Sydney Arrington with a team-high 15 points
- The Beavers shot 29.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from 3-point range and 70.8 percent from the free throw line over the weekend while averaging 35.5 rebounds

- Sophomore center Sydney Arrington led BSU with 8.5 points per game on 41.2 percent shooting
- Junior forward Emma Rappe averaged 8.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game off the bench
- Freshman Brooklyn Bachmann continues to led BSU in rebounds after grabbing 5.5 per game over the weekend

-The Golden Bears captured their first conference win of the 2017-18 season, defeating Upper Iowa 67-59 on the road before falling to Winona State the following day 43-62
-The Bears shot 41.3% from the floor, 45.5% from three, and 82.6% from the line in their win over Upper Iowa. CSP shot better from the line in both of their matchups, scoring 26 points off free-throws over the weekend
-Concordia had ten different players score in their game against Winona State, which is the most players they’ve seen score in one game so far this season
Top Performer(s)
-Junior Anna Schmitt led the way against Upper Iowa, scoring 25 points while shooting 43.8% (7-16) from the floor, 50.0% (3-6) from three, and 100% (8-8) from the line. Schmitt is currently second in the NSIC in free-throw percentage at 92.3%
-Kayla Miller scored a season-high 13 points against Upper Iowa and Ellie Gess made it five straight games in double figures as she scored 11
-Junior center Lindsay Dorr led the Golden Bears against Winona State, scoring ten points and securing five rebounds

Team Notes
- The Marauders will start a three-game home stand when Minot State visits the McDowell Activity Center on Dec. 19, followed by Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State
- The combined conference record of the Marauders last four opponents is 16-2. Overall those four teams (MSUM, NSU, WSC and Augie) are 33-6
- In the Marauders two weekend games, UMary was tied with Wayne State at the end of the third quarter and down three at #23 Augie at the end of the third quarter
Top Performer(s)
-  Gabbie Bohl had a tremendous weekend that included a career scoring high. The Minot, ND, native opened with 21 points and seven rebounds at Wayne State, making 9-of-17 shots. She followed with a career-best 30 points at #23 Augustana, hitting 8-of-15 from the field and 14-of-17 at the line. Bohl also had seven rebounds and two steals. For the year she is second in the NSIC in scoring (18.7 ppg) and 4th in field goal shooting (.539).
-   Lauren Rotunda scored 19 points at Wayne State, making 7-of-11 shots and all four free throws. The Fargo, ND, native also had six rebounds and four assists. She followed with nine rebounds and two blocks at Augie.
-  Cassie Askvig had her second double double of the season with ten points and 10 rebounds at WSC. She also blocked four Wildcats shots. Askvig just missed another double double with 11 rebounds and nine points against the Vikings. She also had four assists and three steals.

- Minnesota Crookston overcame a third quarter comeback to upend MSU Moorhead
- The victory over the Dragons was the first at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse since Dec. 10, 2011
- The Golden Eagles have now taken 4-of-8 games against MSU Moorhead
- The Golden Eagles trailed by just 10 at the half, but ultimately fell 75-50 to No. 14 Northern State
- Minnesota Crookston held the Wolves scoreless from the field over a 6:42 span in the second quarter
- The Wolves outscored the Golden Eagles 41-26 in the final two quarters of the game
- The Golden Eagles are fourth in the conference in free throw percentage with a 77.8 percent clip

- Micaela Noga averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds on the weekend
- Noga shot 43.5 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the free throw line
- Isieoma Odor tallied 13.0 points per game on the weekend. She shot 60.0 percent from the field for the Golden Eagles
- Abby Guidinger notched nine points and five rebounds in her return from injury Saturday against Northern State

- UMD has held opponents under 52 points four times this season
- Their 6-1 record is the best start since the 2004-05 season
- The Bulldogs shot a season-best 51.7 percent from the floor vs. USF, and went 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) from beyond the arc.
- They forced over 20 turnovers in both games for the third and fourth time this year
- The team averaged six blocks a game and didn’t have a shot blocked
- UMD dominated the second quarter, outscoring the weekend opponents 46-24
- The Bulldogs have not been outrebounded in any game and boast the second-best rebounding numbers in the NSIC

- Sammy Kozlowski averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 steals over the weekend
- Katie Stark posted 10 points in each game and shot 53.3 percent. Stark led the team with 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game
- Emma Boehm had her best overall game vs SMSU registering 11 points, five rebounds and three assists
- Anna Monke had 11 points off the bench vs. USF

- Freshman Kirstin Klitzke rounded out the top performers with 9.5 points per contest with 4.0 rebounds per game

- Drew Sannes is now four points away from 1,000 for her career after recording 33 points on the week
- Dragons will face No. 14 Northern State twice in a span of four days starting on Dec. 15 in Aberdeen, S.D.

- Senior F Drew Sannes averaged 17.0 points and 12.0 rebounds for the week and recorded her 18th career double-double against Bemidji State
- Sophomore F Megan Hintz picked up her first career double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds) and averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds for the week; she also shot a team best 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the field
- Senior  G Cassidy Thorson averaged 10.0 points per game for the week
- Junior G Jacky Volkert nearly had a triple-double in loss to Minnesota Crookston, recording 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists

- Northern shot 44.2 percent from the floor, 22.7 percent from the arc, and 55.3 percent from the foul line
- They averaged 70.0 points, 49.0 rebounds, 16.5 assists, 9.5 turnovers, 6.0 steals, and 3.5 blocks per game
- NSU out-rebounded their opponents by 13.5 boards, and forced 2.0 more turnovers per game than they gave up

- Miranda Ristau led the team averaging 24.5 points, while matching her career high of 29 against Minnesota Crookston
- Jill Conrad was second on the team averaging 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while dishing out a team leading eight assists
- Jessi Marti led the team averaging 8.0 rebounds, and notching a team second best four assists

- Currently stand in second place in the NSIC south division and overall with 4-1 conference record

- Kaely Hummel scored a career-high 26 points against St. Cloud State, hitting four 3-pointers
- Jasmine Harris scored 15 points in the win, going 5-for-5 at the free throw line
- Jacey Huinker grabbed 12 rebounds in Friday’s win, her fourth double-digit rebound game of the season and third straight with 12 boards
- Lauren Sanders hit three 3-pointers to lead USF on Saturday with 11 points
- Moira Duffy scored a career-high 10 points on 5-6 shooting in the loss to UMD

- The Mustangs also connected on a season-high nine three point attempts against St. Cloud State
- Southwest Minnesota State went on a 19-2 run during the fourth quarter of its loss at SCSU, nearly rallying from a 21-point second half deficit
- The Mustangs outscored SCSU 24-13 in the fourth quarter to fall just short of completing the comeback
- SMSU went 40 percent from the floor over the weekend as a team

- Meleah Reinhart led the Mustangs with 12.5 ppg after going 8 of 16 (50 percent) from the field in two games over the weekend
- Sarah Buysse had a career-high 22 points in the Mustangs loss at St. Cloud State
- Buysse went 5 of 7 from the field against St. Cloud State including 3 of 5 on three point attempts
- Reinhart went a perfect 4 of 4 from behind the arc against St. Cloud State
- Caleigh Rodning had a game high 19 points on 6 of 9 shooting in the Mustangs’ loss at UMD

- SCSU leads the all-time series with SMSU 38-16

- The program had three players that averaged in double figures this week led by Madelin Dammann’s average of 13 points per game
- Andrea Thomas put up an average of 12.5 points per game
- Mallie Doucette picked up 10.5 points per game
- Brianna Johnson had a solid week with her average of 8.5 points and 8 rebounds per game
- Johnson has 35 rebounds in her last four games
- Tori Worz received her first two career starts over the weekend and averaged 8.5 points per game against USF and SMSU

 - Upper Iowa lost a pair of NSIC games at home this past weekend to Concordia-St. Paul (67-59) and Minnesota State (75-62)
- The Peacocks shot the ball at a 35.9% clip and won the rebounding battle 68-66, but turnovers caused the team trouble once again
- UIU averaged 16.5 giveaways a game including 22 against CSP
- The second quarter was UIU's downfall in both games; the Peacocks led the first quarter 25-22, tied the fourth quarter 39-39 and only lost the third
quarter by three (33-30)
- However, the Golden Bears and Mavericks combined to outscore their hosts 48-27 in the second frame on Friday and Saturday

- Angelica De Paulo played her first significant minutes of the season on Friday and Saturday and poured in 22 points against the Golden Bears
- She averaged 14 points over the weekend and added 4 rebounds per game
-Blair Klostermann averaged 13 points and 4.5 rebounds for UIU, while Natalie Dinius scored 9 per game and added 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest
- Ashley Rosenstiel led the team on the glass with 6 rebounds per game while chipping in 5 points a game as well
