Day 1 Results
MANKATO, Minn. – Seven new records were set on day one of the 2017 NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships held at Myers Field House in Mankato, Minnesota. After seven women’s events, and six men’s events, Minnesota State leads on both men’s and the women’s side.
Winona State’s Katelin Long extended her NSIC record with a throw of 73-5.25, which is the second longest throw in NCAA Division II history behind her national record of throw of 74-5.75 from last season.
Augustana’s Glen Ellingson set the record in the men’s 3000m as he crossed the line in 8:16.97 to break the 2015 record of 8:25.37 set by Sioux Falls’ William Brockmeuller.
University of Mary’s Alexis Zeis set the record in the women’s 3000m as she finished in a time of 9:34.32, breaking U-Mary’s Jennifer Agnew’s 2013 record of 9:37.65.
Courtney Crandall of the University of Sioux Falls set a new women’s pole vault record as she cleared an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 14-2 and broke Minnesota State’s Katelyn Rains 2009 NSIC record of 14-1.25.
In the 400m prelims, Minnesota State’s John Schuster ran a NCAA provisional time of 48.44 to break MSU’s Jerrell Hancock’s 2013 NSIC record of 48.48.
Augustana’s Josh Barrows set a new NSIC record in the prelims of the 800m as he ran a time of 1:52.62 to break SMSU’s Alejandro Sanchez 2015 record of 1:52.93.
The University of Minnesota Duluth’s women’s distance medley relay team of Maria Berg, Paige Du, Elizabeth Kyes and Breanna Colbenson finished in a time of 12:01.42 to win and break NSIC record. The previous record of 12:03.78 was set by UMD in 2013.
