NSIC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Isabella Sella

Upper Iowa
- Went 4-0 on the weekend at No. 1 doubles and singles to lead UIU to a pair of wins
- The senior recorded a pair of doubles wins with Linn Sorman winning 8-4 against UMD and 8-1 against SCSU
- Improved to 6-0 on the season at No. 1 singles after winning 6-2, 7-5 against Shelby Benkofske of UMD and the 6-4, 6-0 over Abigail Kantor of SCSU
- Named NSIC Tennis Player of the Week for the second consecutive week
 

Augustana University Vikings

- Bemidji State earned a pair of wins in a weekend of play in Grand Forks, N.D. picking up a 9-0 sweep of Minnesota Crookston and an 8-1 victory over Sioux Falls - Bemidji State also dropped a match to Augustana, 9-0 - BSU’s win over USF marked the first time the Beavers have defeated the Cougars since 2001 - The Beavers sweep of Minnesota Crookston marked its second of the season, following a 9-0 win over Hamline in non-conference play - BSU’s win Sunday was its seventh of the season, marking the third time in five season under Mark Fodness, the team has achieved that total

- Seniors Meredith Holt and Anastasia Bruss picked up their first wins of the season in singles play and freshmen Lucia Bolibruch and Danielle Wolf claimed their first collegiate single victories in the Marauders 7-2 in over SMSU - Marauders doubles team of Lisa Anderson and Shanna Stevenson improved to 4-2 this season at #3 doubles with a 8-0 win against SMSU - Eileen Leong won both her singles matches to improve to 4-1 on the year. She defeated MSU’s Lisa Dobbelaere 6-1, 7-5 and SMSU’s Jenna Gannott 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (11-9)

- Whitney Erickson and Reanne Erickson played a strong match at No. 1 doubles on Saturday against Sioux Falls - They battled but ultimately fell 8-5 to Kara Bunkers and Kylie Simons - Whitney Erickson had perhaps her best match of the season at No. 1 singles. The junior from Spring Valley, Minn. Fell 6-3 in the first set and went to tie-breaker in set two, but ultimately fell 7-6 (8-6) to Simons

- UMD remained in the thick of the NSIC Tournament berth hunt by going 1-1 against pair of league opponents Saturday at the Sta-Fit Tennis Center in Sartell, Minnesota - The Bulldogs opened the day by handing Winona State its first loss of the season, a 5-4 decision, before falling 7-2 to unbeaten Upper Iowa - UMD won't return to the courts until March 6 when it launches a four-day, five-match visit to Orlando, Fla. It will mark the Bulldogs’ first Spring Break trip to the Sunshine State since 1996

- Freshmen Megan Anderson (7-3 primarily at No. 3),  and Elsa Erickson (6-4 at No. 5), senior Drew DeCorsey (3-2 at No. 2) and junior Katie Baasch (3-2) all sport winning singles records through 10 matches for the Bulldogs while Anderson and DeCorsey own UMD's best doubles mark at 4-3

In doubles, USF is 13-11, including 9-9 in league play

- Kara Bunkers and Abby Seigenthaler, both seniors from Sioux Falls, opened the season strong - With two more wins this weekend Bunkers is 7-1 in #3 singles - Seigenthaler is 6-2 at #4 with a split this weekend - Freshman Tiann Duda is 4-4, 3-3 in NSIC action, at  #2 singles. Bunkers and Kylie Simons sit 3-1 at #1 doubles

- Weather played havoc with the SCSU tennis schedule this weekend as the Huskies ended up playing both UIU and Winona State on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Sta-Fit Tennis Center - SCSU suffered a 5-4 loss to WSU and a 5-4 loss to UIU on Feb. 26 - The doubles duo of Jill Kedrowski and Alexie Portz are 6-0 this season for the Huskies at #2 doubles - Kedrowski is also 5-1 in singles play this spring for the Huskies - Alexie Portz is the granddaughter of SCSU women’s tennis assistant coach Larry Sundby - Her mother Kris Portz played tennis for the Huskies and currently teaches at SCSU

- Jill Kedrowski was 3-1 in action during the matches against UIU and WSU.  Her first loss of the season was a singles setback at fourth singles against Winona - Alexie Portz was also 3-1 in play against UIU and WSU

-The Peacocks kept their winning streak alive with a pair of NSIC wins on the road in Sartell, Minn. - UIU defeated Minnesota Duluth 7-2 and then outlasted St. Cloud State 5-4 to close their trip - Upper Iowa won four of the six doubles matches taking a 2-1 lead into singles competition each dual - UIU won 8 of the 12 singles matches over the weekend as well, with five coming against the Bulldogs

- Isabella Sella and Linn Sorman posted a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles for the Peacocks, while the other two doubles teams each split their matches - In singles play, Sella, Shakhnaza Zhanatova, and Anna Okolot all won both of their singles matches. Sorman and Kelly Jachymowski both went 1-1 in singles over the weekend - The dual with the Huskies came down to the match at No. 5 and UIU's Okolot secured the win 6-3, 6-2
