NSIC Women's Basketball Players of the Week

NSIC North  Division Player of the Week
#51 Miranda Ristau (C, 6-2, Sr., Warner, S.D. / Warner HS)
Northern State
- Led the team averaging 19.5 points per game, with 39 total points against U-Mary and Minot State
- Added a team second best 14 rebounds
- Shot 58.6 percent from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe
- Recorded five assists, two steals, and a team leading two blocks
- Scored a weekend high 23 points against Minot State

- Posted a pair of doubles-doubles and now has five straight and nine in her last 11 games
- Scored 12 points and had 15 rebounds in 61-46 win over SMSU
- Scored 21 points and had 14 rebounds in a 59-51 win over Sioux Falls
- Had 11-of-21 points come in fourth quarter to help seal eight-point win of USF

- Abby Hora led all scorers and poured in a career-high 18 points in the win over Minnesota State on Friday night - Logan O’Farrell (11), Presley O’Farrell (17), Naomi Rust (11), Hora (18) and Hana Metoxen  (11) each scored in double figures on Friday - Logan O’Farrell was the teams’ leading rebounder with seven on Friday night - In Saturday’s game, Presley O’Farrell added 20 points, four rebounds, six assists and five steals while Logan O’Farrell contributed 17 points, four rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals

- Bemidji State began a five-game road trip with two losses at St. Cloud State, 83-51, and at Minnesota Duluth, 66-61 - The Huskies jumped out to a 22-13 lead after the first quarter against the Beavers and led every quarter after - BSU shot 35.3 percent from the floor and 28.6 percent from beyond the arc while losing the rebound battle, 49-26, and allowing 19 points off 13 turnovers - The opening quarter of the weekend finale against the Bulldogs put the Beavers in a hole despite outscoring UMD over the final three quarters, 56-49 - Bemidji State shot 35.2 percent from the floor, 35.0 percent from long range and 84.2 percent from the charity stripe but lost the rebound margin, 39-35 - On the weekend, BSU shot 35.2 percent from the floor, 31.7 percent from 3-point range and 78.1 percent from the free throw line while also totaling 12.5 assists per game

- Senior guard Mikayla Larson tied a career-high 18 points Saturday night against Minnesota Duluth on 6-for-7 shooting from the field - Freshman guard Brooklyn Bachmann led BSU on the weekend with 10.5 points per game on 43.8 percent shooting - Senior center Sierra Senske led BSU with 8.5 rebounds per game and added 8.5 points per contest off the bench

- The Golden Bears dropped both conference games this weekend, falling to Wayne State by 25 and #12 Augustana by 19 - The Bears were held to shooting only 35.7% (45-126) from the floor, compared to their opponents’ 50.4% (58-115), but shot better from three, hitting 32.4% (11-34) of their attempts, compared to their opponents’ 30.3% (10-33) - Concordia held a 78-67 rebounding advantage, and secured an impressive 35 offensive rebounds over the weekend

- Brianna Miller led the Golden Bears, averaging 14.0 points per game, hitting another career-high in her 18 point effort against #12 Augustana. The sophomore forward also averaged 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steal - Junior Kayla Miller averaged 10.5 points per game, while also leading the rebounding efforts, averaging 7.5 boards a game - Guard Anna Schmitt helped out offensively, averaging 12.5 points a game and hit four three-pointers in five attempts (80.0%) against #12 Augustana on Saturday afternoon

- Out of the Marauders first ten Northern Sun games of the year, eight came against teams in the top seven of the conference standings - Of the Marauders next eight games, just two come against teams with winning records - Though UMary has completed its season home-and-home series against Minot State, Northern State and MSU Moorhead, the Marauders still have eight NSIC teams left to play this season - Sr. G Dani Williams is the 24th UMary player to score over 900 points in her Marauders career. Her current total of 920 is 21st all-time in school history

- So. G Lauren Rotunda posted her fourth double double of the season with ten points and ten rebounds at #19 Northern State. She also had two assists and two steals against the Wolves. The Fargo, ND, native added eight rebounds and three assists against MSU Moorhead - Fr. G Macy Williams led the Marauders with 14 points against the Dragons, hitting four treys in the game, her second-best output in both categories this season - Limited to a season-low eight points against #19 Northern State, So. C Gabbie Bohl had 13 points and five rebounds at MSU Moorhead

- Micaela Noga of the Minnesota Crookston women’s basketball team needs just 47 points to become the 11th player in school history to reach 1,000 points. She needs 61 points to surpass Bri Zabel for 10th all-time in career scoring - The Golden Eagles have been very close in several games this season as they have lost six games by 10 or less points this season. - Minnesota Crookston fell in a pair of games this weekend, dropping Friday’s game 73-65 to Minnesota Duluth after a 14-4 run in the second half for the Bulldogs. Saturday against St. Cloud State, the Golden Eagles fell 70-54. The Huskies used 12 three-pointers and a big first half to upend Minnesota Crookston. The Golden Eagles made a late charge as they outscored the Huskies 21-18 in the fourth quarter, but it would be too late - The Golden Eagles are third in the NSIC in free throw percentage at 78.8 percent. Minnesota Crookston is sixth in field goal percentage at 40.8 percent

- Isieoma Odor notched 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game on the weekend for Minnesota Crookston. She shot 45.2 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the charity stripe - Micaela Noga tallied 16.5 points per game as she was 9-of-17 from the field for 52.9 percent and 7-of-14 from beyond the arc for 50.0 percent. Noga was also a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe

- Sammy Kozlowski tied her season high mark of 20 points against Minnesota Crookston. Kozlowski averaged 17 points in the weekend sweep - Katie Stark had a career high 16 points in the win over Bemidji State - Sarah Grow posted her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win over the Beavers - Emma Boehm and Ann Simonet each had five assists on Saturday, which are both career highs

Ziegler became the 14th member of the MSU 800-Point/500-Rebound Club amassing 815 points and 507 rebounds - Junior Monica Muth averaged 10.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest last weekend. She contributed 11 points and seven rebounds at Augustana - Sophomore Taylor Klug averaged 9.0 points per game. She posted 12 points and a season-high three steals at Augustana

- The Northern State University women’s basketball remained at No. 19 in the WBCA Top-25 Poll last week - The Wolves rolled to their tenth double figure victory of the season defeating U-Mary by 18 points - Northern out-scored their opponents by 13.5 points per game, and out-rebounded their opponents by 36.5 boards per game - NSU shot 49.1 percent from the floor, 26.3 percent from the 3-point line, and 83.3 percent from the foul line - They averaged 36.5 rebounds, 18.5 assists, 11.0 turnovers, 6.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game

- Kaely Hummel led the Cougars with an 18.5 scoring average, including game-high 23 points at Upper Iowa - Hummel’s 23 points was her fifth game with 20 or more points this season and she has scored at least 10 in all 14 games this year - Andi Mataloni scored a season-high 14 points at Upper Iowa and hit four 3-pointers in each game to average 13 points for the weekend - Jacey Huinker grabbed a total of 25 rebounds in two games, including a career-best 14 against Winona State - Huinker finished the WSU game with 8 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists

- SMSU dropped its first game of the weekend, 61-46 at Winona State on Friday - The Mustangs scored a season low 46 points after going just 19 of 64 (30 percent) from the field - Southwest Minnesota State snapped an eight-game losing streak with an 80-57 win at Upper Iowa - The Mustangs rebounded with a season-high 80 points against Upper Iowa on Saturday - SMSU held a 24-7 advantage in fast break points and a 34-9 advantage in points off of turnovers in its win over Upper Iowa - The win over Upper Iowa was the largest margin of victory (+23) under Head Coach, Tom Webb - The Mustangs led Upper Iowa 44-30 in points in the paint and led by as many as 30 on two separate occasions

- This was the fifth time that Andrea Thomas has led the team in scoring this season after her 21 points against the Beavers - The team improved to 7-2 when Tori Wortz reaches double figures as she had 17 against Bemidji State - She has scored in double figures in three of the last four games - Mallie Doucette has reached double figures in scoring in four games this season after her 14 points against BSU and season-high 19 against Minnesota Crookston - This was the second time this season and in the last five games that Madelin Dammann has led the team in scoring after she got 21 against Minnesota Crookston - Her 21 points were a career-high and better than the 20 points she had against Minnesota Duluth earlier this season (12/16/17 - The nine points from Thomas against UMC was only the fourth time she has been held under double figures in 13 games

- The Peacocks dropped a pair of home games over the weekend to Sioux Falls (60-46) and Southwest Minnesota State (80-57) - UIU tied their guests in the first and fourth quarters and won the third quarter by a point, but USF did their damage in the second to the tune of a 22-7 score - On Saturday, the Peacocks turned the ball over 21 times leading to a 34-9 advantage for SMSU in points off turnovers and a 24-7 advantage in fast break points - UIU shot 33% from the floor limited by their three-point shooting; the Peacocks converted just 9 of their 44 attempts (20%) from behind the arc

- Angelica De Paulo led the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game including 21 against Sioux Falls, while Natalie Dinius chipped in 9.5 points per game and Ashley Rosenstiel had 8 a game - Emma Gaber led the Peacocks against SMSU with 14 points after not scoring against Sioux Falls - On the glass, Haley Martin pulled down 5.5 rebounds, while Rosenstiel and Pierson both grabbed 4.5 per game
