NSIC Women's Basketball Players of the Week


NSIC North  Division Player of the Week
#10 Andrea Thomas (G, 5-5, Sr., Mauston, Wis. / Mauston HS)
St. Cloud State

- Averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.33 assists and three steals in three wins
- Recorded a career-high of 25 points in Tuesday’s 71-65 victory at UMD
- Lead the Huskies’ comeback with 20 points in the second half
- Scored 16 points in a 60-53 win versus UMary
- Added 18 points in a 70-61 win versus Minot State, helping SCSU to win its fifth straight

Wayne State

- Averaged a double-double with 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in wins over SMSU and USF
- Shot 50 percent (11-22) from the field and 66.7 percent (16-24) at the free throw line
- Averaged 3.0 blocks and 2.5 assists per contest
- Had 19 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in a 78-55 win over SMSU
- Scored game-high 19 points with nine rebounds and three blocks in a 64-51 win over USF
- Became first player in WSC history to surpass 200 career blocked
- Named NSIC Player of the Week for the second time this season (1/29/18)

- The Golden Bears had their first 2-0 conference weekend to finish off their regular season home schedule
- The Bears put together their best defensive performance of the year against WSU, allowing the fewest points in any game all season
- CSP’s offense was especially active against Upper Iowa, tallying 34 field goals and 12 threes, which is the most of any game all year
- The team’s shots were also efficient, as they hit 46.6% of their field goals and 42.9% of their threes

- Junior Anna Schmitt averaged 21.0 points on the weekend, while shooting 50.0% from the floor and from three
- Schmitt also dished out six assists and had three steals in the wins
- Junior center Lindsay Dorr was solid on both ends of the floor for the Bears, averaging 20.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game
- She also recorded four blocks and five steals on the weekend
- Senior Haydn Becker also had a solid performance on the boards, averaging 8.5 rebounds a game

- In the eight games prior to last weekend, the Marauders were shooting 80.5 percent from the free throw line
- In road losses at SCSU and UMD, UMary made 20-of-34 (59 percent) over the two games
- Dani Williams is the 24th UMary player to score over 900 points in her Marauders career; her current total is 999 points

- Gabbie Bohl averaged 20.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg last weekend while shooting 55 percent (17-of-31)
- Bohl had her fifth double double at SCSU with 25 points and 14 rebounds before concluding with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists at UMD
- Cassie Askvig posted her eighth double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds at UMD; for the year she has 11 double digit rebounding games

- Senior Claire Jordan averaged a team-best 19.0 points last weekend. She posted a game-high 21 points and shot 83.3% (5-6) from downtown against Winona State on senior day
- Freshman Kirstin Klitzke averaged 12.0 points. She posted double figures in scoring both nights with 14 points against Upper Iowa and 10 points and three assists vs. Winona State
- Sophomore Taylor Klug rounded out the top performers with 10.5 points per game. She netted 14 points against Upper Iowa to go along with matching a career-best four steals

- Junior guard Jacky Volkert averaged 18 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for the week while shooting 50 percent from the field
- Senior guard Cassidy Thorson averaged 10.5 points per game for the week
- Sophomore forward Megan Hintz averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for the week

- Brynn Flakus dished out a team leading 11 assists for the Wolves

- With the victory, USF clinched a top-four seed in the south division and are one win from clinching a first round home game
- Erased 10-point deficit against Wayne State to take a brief third-quarter lead before falling to 0-6 at Rice Auditorium

- Mariah Szymanski continued her success against Augustana with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists after scoring 31 against AU in the first meeting
- Szymanski averaged 16 points per game after scoring nine points at Wayne State
- Kaely Hummel kept her double-digit scoring streak alive with 13 and 10 points at Augustana and Wayne State, respectively
- Amanda Dagostino played 22 minutes (had played 14 all year) against Augustana and scored the go-ahead layup and grabbed seven rebounds
- Jacey Huinker averaged 9.0 rebounds in two games after she grabbed 10 boards at Wayne State, her eighth game this season with 10 or more rebounds

- Angelica De Paulo (6.5), Rosenstiel (5.5) and Haley Martin (5) combined for 17 rebounds per game to lead UIU on the glass
