NSIC Elite 18 Award

SMITHVILLE, Mo.  –  Hannah Hankinson of Augustana University was named the 2018 NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for women’s golf.  Hankinson was presented the award during the post-championship awards ceremony of the NSIC Women’s Golf Championship, which was held the past three days at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri.  Hankinson is the second student-athlete from Augustana to earn the NSIC Elite 18 Award, joining Zach Tuschen who earned the award for men's indoor track & field earlier this season.

Hankinson is a sophomore majoring in nursing and holds a 3.98 grade point average.  The Edina, Minnesota native holds an 77.6 stroke average this season over 19 rounds. Her low round this season was 69 during the Central Region Fall Preview last September. Hankinson finished 14th at the NSIC Championship and helped the Vikings to their ninth straight NSIC Women's Golf Championship.

As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 Championships.
