Winona State’s Rachel Gantz earns NSIC Elite 18 award for women’s tennis

MINNETONKA, Minn.  –  Rachel Gantz of Winona State University was named the 2018 NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for women’s tennis.  Gantz was presented the award prior to the Saturday morning quarterfinal match of the NSIC Women’s Tennis Tournament held at Lifetime Fitness in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Gantz becomes the fourth Warrior to earn the Elite 18 Award as she joins Raissa Hansen (Cross Country - 2017). Maria Fruechte (Volleyball - 2017) and Tara Roelofs (Women's Basketball - 2017).
 
Gantz is a senior majoring in chemistry (pre-medicine) and holds a 3.98 grade point average.  The Waukesha, Wisconsin native owns an
10-4 overall singles record this season and is 9-2 in NSIC play.  Gantz and teammate Kendra Kappes hold a 11-3 doubles mark, including a 9-2 record in NSIC play.

As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 Championships.
