NSIC Elite 18 Award
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Brindley Theisen of St. Cloud State University is the NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for men’s basketball. Theisen was presented the award during the pregame of the NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball quarterfinal game on Sunday at the Sanford Pentagon. The Huskies swept the NSIC Elite 18 awards for basketball as Kassidy Steen of St. Cloud State earned the women's award on Saturday. It also marks the third NSIC Elite 18 award of the winter season as Brett Velasquez earned the award for wrestling a week ago.

Theisen is a senior majoring in accounting and holds a 3.95 grade point average. The St. Cloud, Minnesota native has started all 29 games for the Huskies this season while averaging 15.4 points and 2.1 rebounds while averaging 36.5 minutes per game. In 2018-19, he ranked second in the national in three-point shooting percentage and three-pointers made, and led the NSIC in both statistics. Theisen can add the Elite 18 honor to his already long list of post-season awards he’s already received this year, as he earned Academic All-District honors in late February and earned Second Team All-NSIC honors this past Thursday.
As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 Championships.
