BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The seven-time defending NSIC Champions of Minnesota State University, Mankato were picked to win the NSIC in the preseason men's outdoor track & field coaches' poll. The Mavericks received 10 first place votes and tallied 100 points, ranking them ahead of the University of Mary, which was second with 88 points and the other first place vote. Sioux Falls was third with 82 points, Augustana was fourth with 74 points while Minnesota Duluth was fifth with 61 points.

The University of Mary's Luxon Glor repeated as preseason outdoor track athlete of the year while Northern State's Tanner Berg was named the preseason field athlete of the year.

The 2019 NSIC outdoor track & field season gets underway in the end of March with the regular season culminating on Friday-Saturday, May 10-11 at the NSIC Championships held at Malosky Stadium in Duluth, Minnesota, hosted by the University if Minnesota Duluth. The NSIC multis will take place two weeks prior on April 28-29 at Clark Swisher Field in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
