2016 NSIC SAAC Summit Day 1 Photos Day 2 Photos The 2016 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Leadership Summit took place May 24-26 on the campus of St. Cloud State University. Over 60 representatives from NSIC institutions participated in activities to build camaraderie between NSIC SAAC leadership, enhance communication skills and learn more about preparing for life after college. The event kicked off on Tuesday afternoon with an opening session, followed by guest speaker Rick Rassier, who will provide an interactive session on personal, professional and leadership growth. On Wednesday morning student-athletes and liaisons participated in a community engagement project at the Salvation Army. Student-athletes helped clean the facility as well as organiz donations both in the facility and at the warehouse. Wednesday afternoon Dawn Buth of the NCAA Sports Science Institute spoke on Mental Health Best Practices followed by Amy Wilson from the NCAA Office of Inclusion. The afternoon culminated with a joint meeting between the student-athletes and the NSIC Board of Directors. Lizzie Kuckuk, a sports nutritionist from the Sanford Sports Science Institute, presented during the group dinner. The day ended with the SAAC Olympics taking place at Halenbeck Hall where multiple games were played. On Thursday morning the group was joined by social media expert Erik Qualman followed by the NSIC SAAC business meeting.
