A major contributor to the Northern State women’s basketball  success in the early 90s was forward Julie Jensen. The leading scorer for the Wolves, during the 1993-94 NAIA National Championship season, Jensen averaged 15.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.45 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. She finished her collegiate career, and remains, the all-time leading scorer in NSU history with 2,058 points. At 5 feet 11 inches, Jensen ranks second on NSU’s career rebound chart with 1,007, which earned her the distinction of just being one of two players in school history to amass more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Jensen was named to the All-Region and All-Northern Sun Conference teams her senior year. In addition, Jensen was the Player of the Year in both the region and the NSIC and made the NAIA II All-America First Team two years in a row.

This will mark the second time that Jensen will be inducted into the NSIC Hall of Fame.  The 1993-94 Northern State NAIA National Championship Team was inducted into the NSIC Hall of Fame in 2008. The 1993-94 team was the most successful team in NSU program history, going 32-1 overall and 12-0 in NSIC play. Among the many records set in the season was most wins (32), best winning percentage (97.0%) and most consecutive wins (32).

Julie has been married to Mark Rozell for 17 years and they have four children; Sarah (15), Drew (13), Addie (10) and Katie (7).  For the past 17 years, Julie has been teaching in Redfield, S.D., two years as a fifth grade teacher and the past 15 years as a physical education teacher.
