If you followed NSIC basketball in the mid-90’s you will know the name Brett Beeson. The Minnesota State University Moorhead star played during the 1991-92 & 1993-96 seasons, setting multiple NSIC and MSUM records both on and off the court.  He ended his senior campaign in 1996 as the top player in NCAA Division II as he was named the CoSIDA National Player of the Year and the GTE Academic All-American Player of the Year. That same season, Beeson was named NSIC Player of the Year and the Midwest Sports Channel NCAA Division II Athlete of the Year after leading the nation in scoring with 33.3 points per game. He also averaged an NSIC record 33.8 points in 12 NSIC contests and became the MSUM single season points record holder with 900 points in 27 games played.

Beeson holds a career average of 18.4 points per game with 1,825 total points while being named All-NSIC and All-American in both his junior and senior seasons. Beeson still holds NSIC single-game records for free throws made (21) and free throws attempted (23). He is third all-time at MSUM in points scored (1,825) and steals (145) and fourth in field goals made (627). He is also the all-time leader in free throws made at MSUM with 472. Beeson holds the single-game record at MSUM with 54 points, the second highest single game point total in NSIC history.  In 2010, Beeson was inducted into the Dragon Hall of Fame, and this past season he was named to the NSIC 25th Anniversary Top 25 Team.

Beeson also exemplified the term student-athlete, as in the classroom as he was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American. He graduated magna cum laude and received an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.

Beeson played professionally overseas for 12 years in Spain, France, Switzerland and Israel. He is currently the Director of Aether Capital Investments Pty Limited, which is headquartered in Sydney, Australia, and offers investment advisory services.  Beeson currently resides in Bangkok, Thailand.
