Yurek, Florian (Lefty) Ziemer, Gladys Marc Hamren Class 1972 Induction 2007 Sport(s) Marc Hamren was a national champion in the 200 Breaststroke in 1972 for the Bemidji State Beavers. The Northfield, Minn. native also earned NIC Swimmer of the Year Award in 1972, as well as being honored as the Harry F. Bangsberg Student Athlete of the Year. Hamren has six other top 12 finishes in the nation in his collegiate career (1969-12th in 200 Breaststroke; 1970-6th in 200 Breaststroke & 10th in 100 Breaststroke; 1971-10th in 200 breaststroke; 1972-3rd in 100 Breaststroke and 6th in 400 Medley Relay). Hamren was a three year captain for the Beavers before graduating in 1972 with a degree in Physical Education and Health. In 1973, he earned his Master of Education degree from the University of Idaho. Hamren currently teaches Physical Education at Richfield Middle School, and is the head coach of the Richfield Spartans Boys and Girls Swimming teams. He is also the coach of the Richfield Swim Club. He and his wife Pamela met and were married while students at Bemidji State. Pam teaches pre-school at Wooddale Nursery School in Eden Prairie. They have been married for 37 years and have four daughters: Stephanie teaches Special Education for District 287, is married, and has 3 daughters and a son. Michelle teaches 2nd grade at Centennial Elementary in Richfield, is married, and coaches the Richfield Boys Team with her dad. Michelle swam four years for the University of Minnesota. Becky is married and has a son. She swam four years at St. Cloud State, where she was captain of the team her senior year. Kimberly also swam at the University of Minnesota and has a daughter.
