Tobin was a standout two-sport athlete in his three years of athletics at Southwest Minnesota State University. For three seasons in a row, 1984, 1985, 1986, Tobin was named to the All-NIC 2nd Team in basketball for the Mustangs. During his career he played in three NAIA District 13 Play-off games. Tobin also broke ten career basketball records at SMSU, finishing his basketball career with 1,600 points. In baseball, Tobin was All-NIC twice and made the All-District team every year he played. In his last season, 1986, the Mustangs were NAIA District 13 Champions, while Tobin was named NAIA All-America Honorable Mention. Tobin left his mark in baseball at Southwest Minnesota State University as he broke five career hitting records and four career pitching records. After obtaining his many athletic accolades, Tobin graduated in 1986 with a degree in Physical Education. Mike is currently a teacher and head boy’s basketball coach at Woodland High School in Cartersville, GA.
