Hohenecker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with a minor in physical education from Northern State in 1993. While at Northern State, Hohenecker was a highly decorated member of the cross country and track and field teams. An eight-time NAIA All-American, Hohenecker earned All-District honors 25 time and All-Conference 30 times during her career. While at Northern State, Hohenecker held 13 indoor track records, eight individual and five relay, and five outdoor track records (two individual, three relay). She was named the MVP of the track and field team each year from 1989 to 1993. In 1993, Hohenecker was honored as Northern State’s Most Valuable Female Athlete, received NSIC Athlete of the Week honors and was named the 1993 Leader of the Pack. Among her other honors include being named the 1993 South Dakota Sportswriter Association’s College Female Athlete of the Year; earning the All-Century Athletes Award in 2000 as Northern State’s Best Female Track Athlete and runner up as the school’s Best All-Around Female Athlete. Presently, Hohenecker is an elementary school teacher and athletic director at the John Ireland School. She has been a member of various coaching organizations as well as the National Science Foundation. Since 1998, Hohenecker has been a member of Catholic Education and Formation Ministries and served on the board of directors of the South Side Youth Organization. Hohenecker continues to compete in road races, including the 1997 Corporate Challenge in New York City. Hohenecker and her husband, Bill, reside in Eden Prairie, Minn., with their son, Tyler.
