SIOUX FALLS, SD – Winona State scored in the closing minutes of the first half, getting the only goal it needed to beat Augustana 1-0 Saturday.
Freshman Alaina Kne recorded her third goal of the season in the 39th minute of the first half to put WSU on the board. Melissa Sellier had the assist on the play, tying her for the team lead with four on the year.
Goalkeeper Anna Belpedio and the WSU defense did not allow a goal for the fourth consecutive game. Belpedio made five saves on the game as the Warriors outshot Augustana 12-7.
Winona State is now 6-2-1 on the season and 4-0 in NSIC play. WSU has outscored its opponents 5-0 in league games while posting a four-game win streak to start its conference schedule.
WSU will be back in action Sunday when it travels to Wayne State for a 1 pm kickoff.
