MARSHALL, MN – Melissa Sellier scored with just over two minutes remaining in overtime as the Winona State soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State.
Sellier found the back of the net with 2:34 to play in overtime off a pass from Katy Soliday to give the Warriors the victory. Winona State is now 10-1 in NSIC play and 12-3-1 overall on the year.
The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute after a goal by Sarah Colleran. Sellier and Cailyn McCauley were credited with assists on the play. SMSU responded with an equalizer in the game’s 69th minute to send the game into overtime.
Winona State outshot the Mustangs 28-8 on the day while holding a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Anna Belpedio made five saves in goal for WSU.
Winona State will end its regular season with a pair of home games next weekend against Minnesota, Crookston and MSU Moorhead.
