Offense Rolls In 4-0 Warrior Win over UMC

WINONA, MN – Winona State scored a season-high four goals in the team’s shutout victory over Minnesota, Crookston Saturday in Winona.

The Warriors scored three times in the first half and added an insurance goal in the second on its way to the 4-0 win. Seniors Melissa Sellier and Sarah Colleran each had a goal and an assist on the day.

Sellier got the scoring going in the 22nd minute when she collected a rebound of her own penalty kick and put it into the goal. Colleran scored just minutes later off a pass from Samantha Fegen to make the score 2-0. Hadley Bales scored for the Warriors four minutes before halftime as well.

WSU received its final goal of the day from Taylor Zehren in the 58th minute, Colleran and Sellier were both credited with assists on the play.

Goalkeepers Anna Belpedio and Alexandria Vial combined to shutout the Golden Eagles, the ninth time the Warriors have held an opponent scoreless this season.

Winona State will conclude its regular season Sunday when it hosts MSU Moorhead at 1 pm.
