CHADRON, Neb. – Northern State used one win by fall and a major decision victory from top-ranked heavyweight Matt Meuleners to edge the Chadron State Eagles 19-18 in non-conference wrestling action on Saturday.
Both teams claimed wins in five of the ten contested matches and each team got a pin amongst those five wins, meaning the decisive team point came on Meuleners’ 11-3 major decision win over CSC’s R.J. Boylan.
Neil Sell picked up NSU’s win by fall at 157 pounds, pinning his opponent with 16 seconds left in the second period.
Anthony Bruno (125), Blake Lundgren (165) and Donnie Bowden (174) also earned wins for the Wolves, who earned their second dual meet victory of the season. NSU had previously knocked off Dakota Wesleyan at home and now sit at 2-0 in dual action.
NSU will now face South Dakota State on Friday in their third non-conference dual of the season. Action begins at 7 p.m. in Brookings.
