WINONA, Minn. – Becca Friestleben was on fire from behind the 3-point line, making seven shots from long range while scoring a career-high 31 points as the Winona State women’s basketball team beat Wisconsin-Stout 100-47 Tuesday in Winona.

Friestleben scored 21 of her 31 points in the second half while adding eight rebounds on the night. The senior was 12-of-20 from the floor, making seven of her ten attempts from long distance. Her seven 3-pointers made are one off the WSU single-game record, set by Anna Wurtz against Minnesota State in 2010.
The Warriors made 15 3-pointers as a team, one behind the school record set against Bemidji State in 2009.
Katie Wolff added four 3-pointers on her way to 18 points while also passing out a team-high eight assists. The Warriors had assists on 22 of their 32 field goals and shot 47 percent on the game.
Kelsey Andrist scored 17 points while Michelle Tobin added 12 and Tessa Wells came off the bench to score ten. Kate Hartman also grabbed nine rebounds in the WSU victory.
Winona State’s defense was stout throughout, holding Wisconsin-Stout to 26 percent shooting on the game. UW-Stout was 16-of-61 on the game and hit just five of 21 shots from behind the 3-point line. The Warriors also caused 22 turnovers and blocked five shots. WSU had 15 steals on the game, with Wolff and Andrist each collecting four.
The Warriors used a 20-2 run during the first half to open up a 49-23 halftime lead. The team also went on a 22-7 run in the second half.
Winona State is now 1-1 on the season and will return to the court Saturday when it hosts Grand View. Tip off is set for 3 pm in McCown Gymnasium.
