Peacocks Claim Citrus Open Title for Third Straight Year

Ten of Thirteen Peacocks Place including One Title and Four Runner-ups

The #4 Peacock wrestling team claimed the team title at the Citrus Open in Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida for the third straight year.  Upper Iowa closed the 2012 calendar year with a title at 197 pounds by Carl Broghammer, four runner-up finishes and four third place finishes.  UIU won the team title despite wrestling without Trevor Franklin and Mitch Schultz in the lineup.

125 - Chris Paulus claimed third place.
133 - Tanner Schmidt claimed second place.
141 - Matt Paulus claimed second place.
149 - Jordan Rinken claimed second place.
157 - Bryce Lumzy claimed second place.
165 - Wade Gobin claimed third place.
174 - Blake Sorensen claimed second place.
197 - Carl Broghammer won the individual title.
285 - Jeremy Brazil claimed third place.

Limited details were released following the tournament; final brackets will be released when they are made available.

The Peacocks will return to the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals in two weeks, Jan. 12-13, in Springfield, Illinois. Upper Iowa recorded their best-ever finish at the National Duals last year with a 3-1 record and a third place finish.
