SCSU Women's Basketball Trumps Bemidji State 81-53

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University women's basketball team continues their undefeated season with a win over Bemidji State, 81-53. The Huskies improve their overall record to 6-0, making it their best start since the 2008-09 season when the squad started 7-0. The Huskies put an end to the Beavers five game win streak. 

St. Cloud State had yet another hot shooting night. The Huskies are currently averaging 77 points a game to their opponent's 53.

It was a well-rounded effort by St. Cloud State tonight. The Huskies shot an impressive 56% in the first half and 49% in the game. Two St. Cloud State players finished tonight's contest with double-digit point totals.

Junior Sam Price (Eau Claire, Wis.) put up 15 points. Price made two of five three point shots in the game. She has made two or more three point baskets in five of the six games played this season. Price also dished out three assists.

Sophomore Jessica Benson (Grand Meadow) tallied 15 points tonight as well. Benson had a team-high six steals. This marks the sophomore's new career high for steals in a single game. 

Freshmen forwards Lexy Petermann (Fond du Lac, Wis), Emma Konopasek (De Pere, Wis.) and Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) all made substantial contributions to tonight's victory. Petermann finished with eight points. Konopasek had eight points and grabbed four rebounds. LeCaptain had a career-high nine points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. 

The Huskies forced the Beavers into 27 turnovers, while commiting just 17 themselves. 

St. Cloud State finished the game with 37 rebounds compared to BSU's 27. 

Tonight's victory over Bemidji marks the Beavers first loss of the season. They fall to 5-1 overall, 1-1 in the NSIC. 

St. Cloud State improves to 6-0 overall, 2-0 in the NSIC. 

St. Cloud State will return to action tomorrow at 4 p.m. against Minnesota, Crookston. The Golden Eagles are 3-3 overall this season, 0-2 in the NSIC. They are coming off a 53-75 loss to Minnesota Duluth. 

St. Cloud State last played UMC on January 20, 2012. The Huskeis defeated the Golden Eagles 75-67.
