Hit By Pitch Gives WSU Walk-Off Win over UMD 3-2

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Molly Link went 3-for-3 and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth as Winona State beat Minnesota Duluth 3-2 in the NSIC Tournament Friday in Rochester.

The victory advances the Warriors to a 4:30 pm matchup with Concordia-St. Paul.

After Minnesota Duluth scored twice in the top of the first, Winona State got itself on the board as well with a solo home run by Molly Link. The homer was the second of the tournament for Link and sixth of the season.

The Warriors tied the contest at two in the fifth, with Ashley Walker doubling off the top of the fence in left field scoring on a single by Melissa Reyes.

Winona State loaded the bases on three consecutive Minnesota Duluth errors in the bottom of the ninth. Link then recorded the walk-off winning play, getting hit by the pitch to send home a run and lift the Warriors to the 3-2 victory.

Stacey Struzynski threw all nine innings for the Warriors, giving up seven hits and the two first inning runs while striking out eight.

The Warriors are now 41-9 overall on the season.
