ROCHESTER, Minn. – No. 2 seeded Augustana defeated No. 6 seed Concordia University, St. Paul 8-0 after a walk-off Grand Slam by Theresa McMahon on Friday.

Augustana improves to 46-8 while CU is now 29-11.

Ashley Meyer started the game for the Vikings and threw 5.0 shutout innings with three strikeouts while allowing just four hits.  McMahon and Jenelle Trautmann fueled the Vikings offensive, as McMahon went 1 for 1 with a home run, two walks and four RBIs and Trautmann added two RBIs and a home run in a 2 for 3 performance.

Augustana jumped on the scoreboard in the first when Elizabeth Murray singled to left field with two outs and Jenelle Trautmann hit her third home run of the tournament to put the Viking up 2-0.

The Vikings put together more offense in the fourth after Kelsey Kalkman led off with a single and was pinch ran for by Taylor Kapsch.  Kapsch stole second base during Matley Jones’ at-bat, then moved to third on Jones’ ground ball out.  After Durland and McMahon walked to load the bases, Jenny Brown singled through the right side to push Kapsch home.

The Vikings ended the game in the fifth with a five-run spurt, keyed by Trautmann’s leadoff single up the middle.  After Spanton singled and Kalkman laid down a sacrifice bunt, Jones was intentionally walked to load the bases. Durland flied out to left, but Winskowski singled to third base that scored Trautmann and extended the inning.  McMahon hit a 3-2 pitch over the center field fence for a grand slam home run.

Augustana will face No. 1 seeded Minnesota State at 3 p.m.
