Cold Spring, Minn. - (VIDEO) St. Cloud State University senior pitcher Logan Birr (St. Cloud) crafted his first collegiate no-hitter with a 9-0 complete game win over NSIC rival Minnesota Crookston on April 27 before junior Scott Lieser (Browerville) threw a second no-no in a 19-0 game two win. In a game played at the Cold Spring Ballpark in Cold Spring, Minn., Birr carded 14 strikeouts in the game to lead the Huskies to shutout win. The games against UMC were moved to Cold Spring due to the threat of bad weather in the area on April 28.
This was SCSU's first no-hitter since Scott Lieser posted a no-no against Northern State in 2011. The victory also improves Birr's record to 8-0 on the season.
SCSU opened the game with two runs in the first inning to gain the winning runs. The Huskies padded the lead with three more runs in the third inning to make it 5-0. In the bottom of the fourth inning, SCSU added three more to make it 8-0. SCSU's final run was posted in the sixth inning.

Not to be outdone by Birr, junior Scott Lieser (Browerville) threw another 14-strikeout no-hitter in game two to record back-to-back no-hitters for the Huskies, who pounded the Golden Eagles 19-0 in seven innings to complete the nightcap.
Lieser allowed just two runners to get on base in game two, while facing 24 batters, while the Husky offense went off for 14 hits in a second shutout of UMC.
Junior Joey Althoff (Delano) went 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and four RBI in the game to lead the Huskies, while Imholte went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
Nine Huskies drove in a run in game two, while sophomore Garrett Fischer (New Ulm) scored a game-high four runs on a 1-for-2 game at the plate.
If the weather permits, the Huskies and Golden Eagles will continue the NSIC series with a doubleheader in St. Cloud on April 28 at Joe Faber Field. The doubleheader is set for a 2:00 p.m. start tomorrow.
