Junior forward Maureen Stormont netted the game-winner just 30 seconds into overtime as the University of Minnesota Duluth earned a 3-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory against Augustana College on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (7-2-0, 6-1-0 NSIC) battled both the wind and the Vikings (7-3-0, 5-2-0 NSIC) at Malosky Stadium, but junior midfielder Jennifer Smith fed a perfect pass to Stormont just as overtime began which she drilled in the back of the net to earn her team the win.

The scores came quickly in the first half as senior forward Dani Potter got UMD on the board in the 11th minute with an unassisted score, her sixth of 2013. Augustana came back to pull even and then ahead with two goals in the next five minutes, each attributed to the Vikings leading scorer, Maren Werth. UMD would come back to tie later in the half as Stormont scored her first of the game, another unassisted tally, to knot it at two apiece heading into the break. The Bulldogs out-shot the Vikings 13-7 in the first half with a 6-5 edge in shots-on-net.

The second half was quiet for both teams on the scoreboard with UMD out-shooting Augustana again in the latter frame, this time 10-7 with a 4-3 shots-on-goal advantage for a 24-14 game total (11-8 SOG). Bulldogs sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Rosa earned her seventh win of the year in-net with six saves on the afternoon, while Vikings keeper Ashley Limmer took a hard-luck loss with eight saves.

The Bulldogs hit the road for a four-game streak beginning next week with the team's longest road trip of the year, to Minot State and the University of Mary next Saturday and Sunday. Each of those matches is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
