WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State soccer team brought its regular season to a close in impressive fashion, knocking off No. 4 Minnesota State 1-0 Sunday in Winona.

Alaina Kne scored the game's only goal with less than ten minutes remaining in the first half, moving the team's win streak to 12 games and securing the second seed in next week's NSIC/US Bank Soccer Tournament for the Warriors.

Jennifer DeRoo slipped a beautiful pass past the Minnesota State defense, finding Kne cutting through the box. Kne quickly touched the shot into the back of the net, providing Winona State with the game-winning score.

Winona State's 12 game win streak is the third longest in program history while the team has nine shutouts in its last 11 games and 11 overall.

The Warriors took 14 shots on the game, with Minnesota State recording 14. Kne and Kati Baker led Winona State with three shots each, with Baker leading the squad with two shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Alexandra Vial recorded six saves on the game, including three late in the contest, to preserve the victory.

The victory is also the Warriors' second this season over a ranked opponent, having beaten then-No. 21 Southwest Minnesota State 1-0 on Oct. 13.

Winona State ends its regular season with a 14-2-2 overall record and a 13-2 mark in NSIC play. Winona State will host a first round game in the NSIC Tournament on Wednesday. The NSIC/US Bank Soccer Tournament bracket will be released later today.
