Frauendorfer continued her sizzling play over the weekend for the No. 18 Wildcats averaging 4.43 kills and 1.14 blocks per game while recording a scorching .537 attack percentage. Frauendorfer had 18 kills with two blocks and hit .515 in Friday’s 3-1 win at Minnesota Crookston and followed that with 13 kills and six blocks in a 3-0 sweep at Bemidji State.  For the weekend, Frauendorfer notched 31 kills and just two attack errors in 54 attempts.  Over the last two weekends, Frauendorfer has accounted for 4.31 kills and 1.12 blocks per game with a .496 attack percentage in matches against No. 4 UMD, SCSU, UMC and BSU.

Hinsch helped direct the Bulldogs’ offense with 80 assists on the weekend, a 13.33 apg average. The Bulldogs hit .386 as a team, defeating Sioux Falls and No. 8 Southwest Minnesota State in straight sets.  She added one kill, a pair of block assists, one service ace, and six digs.This marks the third time this season Hinsch has been NSIC Setter of the Week (10/28/13 & 9/23/13).

Wiesner averaged 6.43 digs per set against Augustana and No. 18 Wayne State on the weekend. She had 29 digs in a crucial 3-0 victory over Augustana Saturday. The libero averaged an astounding 9.67 digs per set in the win Saturday over the Vikings. She had 16 digs alone in a 37-35 set one victory including several highlight-reel digs. The 37 points in a single game marks the NCAA Division II record for most points in a single set in the 25-point era. Wiesner had 16 digs in Friday’s 3-1 loss to Wayne State.

Augustana split on the road this weekend, putting them in a tie for fifth in the NSIC standings. The Vikings opened the weekend with a sweep of Bemidji State with defense leading the way. The Vikings picked up 56 digs in three sets, led by Kayla Wallerich’s match-high 17 and blocked seven BSU attacks. In Saturday’s match, Augustana was a part of history, albeit, on the wrong side, but the first set with Minnesota Crookston set a new NCAA Division II record. Augustana failed to capitalize on 10 set points in the first set and fell 37-35 which surpassed the D2 record for points in a set since the scoring change in 2008. The Vikings couldn’t recover and lost to UMC in three sets, the first loss in 12 matches for Augustana.
Holly Hafemeyer (MB, 6-2, Sr., Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) finished with 26 kills and a .299 attack percentage. The senior middle blocker added seven block assists and a pair of aces to finish with a team-high 31.5 points on the weekend. Hafemeyer drilled eight kills with no errors in the win over Bemidji State and 18 kills at Minnesota Crookston.
Marissa Johnson (S, 5-8, So., Omaha, Neb./Burke HS) dished out 78 assists in just six sets to record a 13.33 assist per set average. Johnson also tallied her sixth double-double of the season when she picked up 17 digs to pair with her 48 assists in Saturday’s loss at Minnesota Crookston. Johnson hit double-digits in both categories in just the first set as she picked up 23 assists and 11 digs in the first set.
Kayla Wallerich (L, 5-8, Sr., Marshall, Minn./Marshall HS) led the Vikings with 40 digs on the weekend, finishing with a 6.66 dig per set average. In Friday’s win over Bemidji State, Wallerich scooped up 17 digs to lead the Vikings to a dominant defensive performance and sweep of the Beavers. Wallerich did her best to keep the Vikings alive against Minnesota Crookston, picking up 23 digs in just three sets (7.67 digs/set). Wallerich also chipped in with three services aces on the weekend.

The BSU volleyball team saw their current losing skid hit eleven this week after a pair of losses at home.  Bemidji State lost to Augustana and No. 18 Wayne State by identical 3-0 scores.  The team registered 58 kills on the weekend with a hitting percentage of .049 as the offense struggled.  Jessica Yost (18) and Amanda Tronick (16) led the team in kills, while Courtney Volkmann recorded 50 assists and 20 digs. Kayla DeJong registered 23 digs on the back line.  Bemidji State will play at Concordia University, St. Paul University, Nov. 8, before taking on Minnesota State University, Mankato, Nov. 9. The Beavers lost to both teams earlier this season by 3-0 and 3-2 scores, respectively.

Kayla Koenecke (RS, 5’9”, Sr., Delano, Minn. / HS) collected 28 kills (4.00 per set) with a .357 hitting percentage in the Golden Bears’ two wins over MSU Moorhead and #23 Northern State.  She also chipped in 24 digs and 10 assists for CU.  On Saturday against nationally ranked Northern State Koenecke had 15 kills and 13 digs to pick up her 14th double-double of the year while hitting with an efficient .429 hitting percentage.
Amanda Konetchy (S, 5’7”, Sr., Victoria, Minn. / Chaska HS) matched her season average with 13.14 assists per set (92 total) in the two wins for Concordia.  On Saturday, she paced a Golden Bear attack that hit .397 while adding 52 assists and 12 digs.  Konetchy spread the ball around in that match, getting five different Concordia attackers in double figures in kills.
Concordia (24-1, 16-0 NSIC) picked up a pair of big conference wins over MSU Moorhead and #23 Northern State at home this weekend.  The Dragons jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with a 25-23 win in the first before Concordia stormed back with three straight wins to take the match.  On Saturday, the Golden Bears made quick work of the Wolves in a three set win to take their 22nd straight win overall.  CU has now won 30 straight regular season NSIC matches.

Against Winona State offensive struggles doomed U-Mary as 21 attack errors led to an .088 hitting percentage. In contrast, against Upper Iowa is was the Marauders defense that did them in as they hit their fifth highest percentage of the season, but they allowed the Peacocks to hit a season-high .381. U-Mary will make its final road trip of the season as it takes on Sioux Falls on Friday and Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday.
For the second consecutive weekend #12 Lauren Boldt (5-10, OH, Jr., Red Wing, Minn. / Red Wing HS) has lead U-Mary’s offensive attack. With an increased workload, Boldt finished the weekend with 24 kills (4.0 kills/set) while hitting .347. Against Winona State Boldt had 12 kills and three digs and addition to a solo block. In the match with Upper Iowa the junior had two digs and two block assists to go with her 12 kills. Boldt is averaging 3.38 kills/set for the Marauders over the past two weekends.

Brittany Looker (Jr., OH, Rochester, Minn.) had perhaps her strongest weekend of the 2013 campaign as she averaged 5.57 kills per set on the weekend against two very tough opponents in No. 18 Wayne State College and Augustana College. Looker was integral in a record-breaking win over Augustana 3-0 Saturday. The junior had a double-double of 11 kills and 10 digs in the first set alone as she hit .357 in the frame to help guide the Golden Eagles to a come-from-behind 37-35 win in the first set. The 37 points in a single game marks the NCAA Division II record for most points in a single set in the 25-point era. Looker would finish the match with 19 kills and 22 digs for an average of 6.3 kills per set and 7.3 digs per set. The Golden Eagles would also set the NCAA mark for points in a three-set match with 87. Looker added 20 kills and hit .206 against Wayne State. She hit .238 in Saturday’s match.
Sierra Trost (Fr., S, Ham Lake, Minn.) averaged 13.4 assists per set as the Golden Eagles went 1-1 on the weekend against two very tough opponents in No. 18 Wayne State College and Augustana College. Trost was a major part of a record-breaking 3-0 win over the Vikings Saturday. The freshman had 52 assists for an average of 17.3 assists per set in a huge victory over Augustana, who came in ranked fifth in the league. Trost had 27 assists alone in a record-breaking 37-35 set one victory. The 37 points in a single game marks the NCAA Division II record for most points in a single set in the 25-point era. Trost would also add 10 digs for a double-double. She had 42 assists against Wayne State Friday and also had a double-double with 11 digs.

The third-ranked Bulldogs knocked off a ranked team for the fourth time in 2013 as UMD earned a pair of sweeps at Romano Gym.
Junior right side hitter Maddy Siroin had 15 kills on the weekend and hit .538 with just one attack error. She hit .700 against Sioux Falls on Friday and added five total blocks and five digs to help the Bulldogs to a pair of wins on the weekend.
Freshman middle blocker Sydnie Mauch led the way for UMD with 11 total blocks, including three solos on the weekend. She also hit .310 with 14 kills on the offensive end.
Sophomore setter Ashley Hinsch helped direct the Bulldogs’ offense with 80 assists on the weekend. She added one kill, a pair of block assists, one service ace, and six digs.

This past week the Minnesota State volleyball team was able to pick up a pair of wins in its three home games played last week. The Mavericks defeated the Upper Iowa University Peacocks on Tuesday, 3-1 in a non-conference bout, before falling to No. 23 Northern State, 3-0 on Friday, but were able to earn the 3-1 win over MSU-Moorhead Saturday evening bringing their record to 11-13 overall and 6-10 in league action.
Sophomore Chandra Honebrink (5-10, OH, Waconia, Minn.) led the Maverick offensive attack posting 50 kills in the 11 sets played (4.55 kills per set) while posting a .273 hitting percentage in addition to 20 digs and four blocks. Honebrink established a career-high 19 kills against the Peacocks before tallying 20 kills against the Dragons on Saturday afternoon, establishing a new career-high.
Sophomore Ellie Van De Steeg (5-9, S, Hutchinson, Minn.) posted 134 assists in MSU’s three matches this past week, averaging 12.1 assists per set. Additionally, Van De Steeg tallied three kills, on service ace, 16 digs and a team-high eight total blocks in the Mavericks’ 11 sets played, helping the Mavericks to a 2-1 record in the three match span

Maggie Gruber (MB, 6-2, Jr., Belgrade, Minn. / Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa HS) had a solid week for the Dragons, recording 16 kills in two matches, averaging 2.00 kills per set. Gruber hit .238 in 42 attack attempts. She had 10 kills in a four-set loss at Minnesota State on Saturday after recording six kills in a loss at No. 1-ranked Concordia-St. Paul. Gruber also added four service aces, two solo blocks and a team-best seven block assists for the week. Gruber is second on the team with 223 kills this season.
Amber Krenske (L/DS, 5-7, So., Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) had a team-best 31 digs during the Dragons’ two matches last week. She had 21 digs in a four-set loss at Minnesota State on Saturday after recording 10 in a loss to No. 1-ranked Concordia-St. Paul on Friday. She averaged 3.88 digs for the week. Krenske leads MSUM with 301 digs on the season and an average of 4.93 digs per set.
Sam Sullivan (S, Jr., 5-11, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) led the Dragons’ two-setter attack with 37 assists during two matches, an average of 4.62 per set. She had 19 assists, two kills and seven digs in a loss at No. 1-ranked Concordia-St. Paul on Friday and then had 18 assists and four digs in a loss at Minnesota State on Saturday. She had 11 digs for the week.

Minot State hit the road for their longest conference road trip of the season. The Beavers were looking for a sweep on the weekend the put them in better position to make their first ever NSIC Tournament. MISU had that chance on Saturday, but they fell in four sets to Winona State at McCown Gymnasium.  not State, statistically had an above average offensive attack against WSU, totaling a .209 hitting percentage. But the Warriors also hit better than their average, with a .235. Mallory Sall (So., OH, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) and Lauren Dunkle (Fr., OH, Aurora, Colo.) led the Beavers with 12 kills apiece while Jen Dixon (Jr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) notched 10 kills. Dixon also had 17 digs in the loss. Friday night in Fayette, the Beavers needed five sets to give the Peacocks their twelfth consecutive loss. MISU hit just .122 for the match, their lowest hitting percentage in eight matches. Dixon led Minot State with 18 kills and 16 digs while Sall also notched a double-double with 15 kills and 17 assists. The Beavers currently sit in a four-way tie for eighth place in the NSIC but arguably have the toughest remaining four matches in the conference beginning with Southwest Minnesota State University on Friday Nov. 8 in Marshall, Minn.

Jussy Tuscherer (Cresbard, S.D. / Northwestern HS) led the Wolves over the weekend with 24 kills (4 per set) and also hit .489 for the weekend. Tuscherer recorded career-highs with 15 kills and a .609 hitting percentage in the Wolves’ sweep over Minnesota State. Tuscherer also had her third double-double of the season as she added 13 digs against the Mavs. Tuscherer also added 11 digs against Concordia-St. Paul and had three total blocks on the weekend. Tuscherer recorded just one attack error on 47 attempts in the two matches.

Sioux Falls went 2-1 last week in a win-loss-win fashion to leapfrog into eighth place in the league standings. The Cougars stepped out of the NSIC loop on Tuesday for a nonconference tilt at Dakota State, where head coach Joel McCartney used his starters in a limited capacity and cruised to a 25-22, 25-11, 25-15 victory over the homestanding Trojans. Freshman Jordan Calef pounded a match-best nine kills in just 13 attempts (.462), while junior Emily Johnson, a non-starter for first time in her career, came off the bench to post eight kills on a .500 attack clip. USF was on the opposite end of a lopsided score on Friday, falling in straight sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-17) at No. 3 Minnesota-Duluth. Emily Johnson finished with seven kills, four digs and a block assist, while Jordan Calef registered six terminations with just one error in 11 attempts for a .455 attack clip. The Cougars entered the match leading the league in service aces but UMD’s defense was rock-solid which paid off to the tune of zero aces and seven service errors for USF. USF bounced back to knock off the St. Cloud State Huskies on their home court Saturday night in a five-setter, (22-25, 25-12, 25-23, 20-25 and 15-12). Johnson led the Cougars’ offense with 21 kills and also chipped in four digs and two assisted blocks. Kate Hart was also an integral part of the Cougars’ winning effort, as she was credited with 12 kills, five digs and three assisted blocks. With the win, the Cougars hold the final spot in the NSIC Volleyball Postseason tournament with four conference matches remaining. USF will host the University of Mary and Minot State this weekend.

Abbey Thissen (RS, 6-0, So., Clara City, Minn. / MACCRAY) had a solid weekend for the Mustangs as she led SMSU with 30 kills on 56 total attacks. The sophomore right side hitter combined to hit .446 in SMSU’s six sets as she committed just five errors and averaged 5.00 kills per set. Thissen also tallied six block assists which also led SMSU.
Emilee Gutzmer (S, 5-8, So., Jordan, Minn. / Jordan) recorded 67 assists over the weekend in SMSU’s matches versus St. Cloud State and No. 3 Minnesota Duluth. Gutzmer also chipped in 12 digs in the two matches.
Rachel Westby (L, 5-7, Sr., Marshall, Minn. / Marshall) averaged 4.50 digs per set in SMSU’s two matches over the weekend. Westby tallied 27 digs in six sets.

St. Cloud State took on #8 Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Nov. 1. The Huskies were defeated handily in set one, 15-25 before putting the pressure on. Sets two and three were a battle to 25. The Huskies ultimately fell 23-25 in both sets two and three, falling to SMSU in straight sets. St. Cloud State’s middle blockers (Kellan Flynn and Ellie Dietzen) made a big impact in this weekend’s matches. Senior Ellie Dietzen (Black Creek, Wis.) led all players for the Huskies on Friday. Dietzen posted 11 kills and a .563 attack percentage. Sophomore Kellan Flynn (Tomahawk, Wis.) was right behind, finishing with 10 kills and .471 attack percentage. On Saturday, the Huskies took on the University of Sioux Falls in a match that lasted a little over two hours as the Huskies ultimately fell in a heartbreaking five-set loss to the Cougars with set scores of 22-25, 25-12, 25-23, 20-25, and 15-12. The match-up consisted of 11 total lead changes and 28 tied scores within the five sets. The Huskies hit just an .086 attack percentage compared to USF’s .236. Kellan Flynn (Tomahawk, Wis.) led St. Cloud State with 11 kills and a .217 hitting percentage. Ellie Dietzen (Black Creek, Wis.) posted nine kills and eight blocks in the match. Brianne Stamer (Hutchinson) led all players with 21 digs. St. Cloud State drops to 12-12 overall and 6-10 in the NSIC. The Huskies will return to action next weekend as they travel to Upper Iowa University and Winona State University. St. Cloud State took on these two schools earlier this season, defeating the Peacocks in straight sets and downing Winona State, 3-1.

Melanie Behnke (OH, 5-10, Sr., Seymour, Wis.) led the Peacock offense on the week to a 1-2 record with 44 kills (4.0/set) while hitting .241.  Behnke added 19 digs and 7 blocks in the three matches.  
Amanda Weiss (Lib., 5-7, Jr., West Bend, Wis.) held the back line of the Peacocks while winning a match in three chances this week.  Weiss dug up 63 balls this week for a 5.25/set average.  The junior libero added 4 assists and a service ace.
The Peacocks lost a four-set match to Minnesota State on the road on Tuesday and a five-set match to Minot State on Friday before finally breaking back into the win column with their best hitting performance of the season.  UIU hit .341 with 43 kills versus U-Mary to snap a twelve-match skid.  Upper Iowa will host their final two home games on Friday and Saturday this week when they welcome St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth.

Alyssa Frauendorfer, a 6-0 freshman middle hitter from Humphrey, Nebraska (Humphrey HS), continued her sizzling play over the weekend for the #18 Wildcats averaging 4.43 kills and 1.14 blocks per game while recording a scorching .537 attack percentage to lead WSC in road wins at Minnesota Crookston (3-1) and Bemidji State (3-0).  Frauendorfer had 18 kills with two blocks and hit .515 in Friday’s 3-1 win at UMC and followed that with 13 kills and six blocks in a 3-0 sweep at Bemidji State.  For the weekend, Frauendorfer notched 31 kills and just two attack errors in 54 attempts for a .537 attack percentage.  Over the last two weekends, Frauendorfer has accounted for 4.31 kills and 1.12 blocks per game with a .496 attack percentage in matches against #4 Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State, Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State.
Leisa McClintock, a 5-7 sophomore setter from Sioux City, Iowa (Heelan HS), averaged 10.14 assists and 2.71 digs per game in two Wildcat road wins over the weekend.  McClintock had seven kills, 10 digs and 43 set assists in Friday’s 3-1 win at Minnesota Crookston and added 28 assists with nine digs in a 3-0 sweep at Bemidji State Saturday.

Mikaela Girard, MH, Jr., 6-1, Delafield, Wis. (Kettle Moraine) had an outstanding weekend offensively for the Warriors, hitting .800 with 16 kills as WSU topped U-Mary and Minot State. Girard posted a kill on 16 of her 20 hitting attempts while not recording an error on the weekend. The junior began the week with six kills on nine attempts against U-Mary before posting 10 kills on 11 attacks (a .909 hitting percentage) against Minot State. She also had three total blocks for the Warriors.
Bekah Saugen, OH, Sr., Chaska, Minn. (Chaska) led Winona State with 39 total digs and 5.57 digs per set in victories over U-Mary and Minot State. Saugen began the weekend with 19 digs against the Marauders and added 20 digs against Minot State. The senior was also an asset on the offensive end, posting 22 kills in the matches. She had 13 kills against Minot State, giving her a double-double on the match.
Elena Kruesel, S, Sr., Grafton, Wis. (Dominican) paced Winona State with 31 assists in victories over U-Mary and Minot State. Kruesel averaged 6.20 assists per set, handing out 15 against U-Mary and 16 against Minot State. She also had 13 digs and three aces on the weekend.
