Skye Warwick nailed a long three-pointer at the buzzer as Northern State stuns MSU Moorhead 70-69 Saturday night in Aberdeen.

Tied at 67-67, the Dragons took the lead with 2.2 seconds left after Jordan Riewer found Tarell Clark cutting to the hoop for the go-ahead layup. After a Wolves timeout, Jared Hannigan's great inbounds pass hit Spencer Pankonin just beyond halfcout, Pankonin spun around and found a wide open Warwick on the wing for the game-winner.

The win is Northern's fifth consecutive victory, and avenged a NSIC-opening loss to MSU Moorhead back on November 30. The Wolves improve to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the league while the loss is the Dragons' first blemish of the season (9-1, 5-1 NSIC).
The Wolves trailed for most of the game, but took the lead at 66-65 after Tydan Storrusten's free throw with 2:27 to go, gave Northern its first lead since 4-2 with 17:17 left in the opening half. After a made free throw by Warwick, NSU led 67-65 with 1:56 to play. The Dragons would fight back, tying the game on an Urbane Bingham jumper with 56 second remaining.

NSU trailed by as many as 10 on two separate occasions in the game, the last coming after a Prescott Williams layup put MSUM up 34-24 to open the second half. The Wolves clawed back, going on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to one, but just couldn't get over the hump for most of the half as Northern would cut the Moorhead lead down to one point, five times.

Warwick finished the game with 10 points on 3-for-7 shooting from long range, but caught fire at the right time as he hit his last three shots the final 4:49 of the contest.

Storrusten led the Wolves with 16 points and four assists in the win. Trent Zomer added 10 points, six rebounds and two big blocks in the game. Seth Bachand added nine points and eight rebounds while Hannigan and Mitch White had eight and seven points, respectively. Michael Schreiber added eight boars of his own for the Wolves.

Bingham led all scorers with 22 points and went 11-for-13 from the line. As a team, Moorhead went 27-for-35 (77.1 percent) from the line while Northern was 19-of-28 (67.9 percent). The Wolves held the edge on the glass Saturday 37-33 after being outrebounded by 20 in the team's first meeting.

Northern shot 44 percent from the floor in the game (22-for-50) while Moorhead shot 18-for-47 (38.3 percent). The Wolves had a 28-22 advantage in the paint and had five more second-chance points than the Dragons. The MSUM bench had a big night, outscoring the Northern reserves 51-17. The Dragons also had 10 points off 17 Northern turnovers. Northern scored seven off 14 Moorhead miscues. However, the wolves took care of the ball much better in the second half as they committed just three turnovers in the half after 14 in the opening stanza.

This was the Wolves' final contest of 2013. Northern returns from the holidays January 3 and 4 when it travels to face Southwest Minnesota at 8 p.m. on the third and will play Sioux Falls in a 6 p.m. contest the 4th.
