MINNETONKA, Minn. – The Winona State tennis team made quick work of its opening opponent at the NSIC Tournament, beating the University of Mary 5-0 Saturday morning.

The Warriors swept through their three doubles matches, with the duos of Jessica Urban and Brianna Havelka and Laura Lindstrand and Brittney Freund winning 8-2. Erin Kappers and Hannah Potter won their doubles match 8-3 to stake WSU to the early advantage.
The doubles sweep meant the Warriors needed just two singles victories to close out the match, getting those from Laura Roesslein (6-0, 6-0) and Potter (6-0, 6-1).
The victory advances WSU to the conference tournament’s semifinal which will be played at 8 am Sunday against either St. Cloud State or Upper Iowa.
