MINOT, ND –
Samantha Fegen scored with under seven minutes to play, lifting the Winona State soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Minot State Friday.
Fegen took a pass from
Morgan LeFebvre and scored the game-winner, helping WSU move its record to 3-2-2 overall and 2-2 in NSIC competition.
The Warriors got on the board early, with
Kati Baker scoring her second goal of the season just 16 minutes into the game.
Alaina Kne picked up the assist on the play to stake Winona State to the early advantage.
Minot State evened the game ten minutes later, getting a goal from Kayla Schlittenhart off a corner kick to make the score 1-1.
Neither team would score until Fegen broke the tie with her first goal of the season late in the second half.
Winona State took 18 total shots on the game, putting 10 on goal.
Meg Riebau paced the team with six shots while four other players took two each.
The Warrior defense was stout once again giving up just nine shots on the contest. WSU goalkeeper
Alexandra Vial made six saves while allowing just the single goal.
Winona State will return to action on Sunday when it takes on the University of Mary at 2:30 pm.
